The 3x3 Canada Quest Finals took place at the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton Alberta this past weekend. Eight teams from our six regional events including two wildcard teams competed for the title of 3x3 Canada Quest Finals Champion. Team Montreal was crowned the winner of the 3x3 Canada Quest Final defeating Team Winnipeg 18-14 in the final. Team Montreal (Kyle Desmarais (188-G-87, college: Cent.Conn.St.) (C), Sebastian Beckett (198-C), Kevin Loiselle (198-F-88), Mukiya Post (193-G)) completed the tournament with a 6-0 record, scoring an average of 20.2 points per game. After finishing 0-3 in round robin play on Day 1, Team Winnipeg (Wyatt Anders (201-F) (C), Jelane Pryce (201-F), Matthew Koenig (180-PG), O'Neill Gordon (193-F/G-80))) stunned the tournament when they upset Team Saskatoon 21-11 in the quarter-finals, followed by a 21-17 victory against Team Vancouver in the semi-finals. With Team Montreal and Team Winnipeg reaching the finals, both teams qualify for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour which will for the first time take place in Canada from July 15-16 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Regardless of their early exit in the tournament, Team Saskatoon (Michael Linklater (178-PG-82) (C), Mike Lieffers, Nolan Brudehl (199-F-90) and Andrew Spagrud (203-F-85)) has also already qualified for the FIBA World Tour stop in Saskatchewan with their top-10 FIBA 3x3 ranking.
