Ioannis
Dimakopoulos
BC Partizan NiS Beograd (KLS) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old Greek center Ioannis Dimakopoulos (218-116kg-94). He just graduated from Cal-Irvine (NCAA). Dimakopoulos has played there for the last four years. In 35 games he recorded 10.9ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.1apg last season. Dimakopoulos helped them to win the regular season and make it to the Big West Tournament final. Great season indeed as he was voted to All-Big West 2nd Team.
As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball.
Dimakopoulos' college team won Big West Tournament in 2015.
He represented Greece at the CIT Championship Finalist last year.
Dimakopoulos has played previously for another Serbian team Panathinaikos.
The scouts decsribe him following way: (By Chris Mammides)
Talented center prospect whose best days are ahead; possesses a diversity of abilities; excellent rebounder and shot blocker who can score in the paint and has a nice touch up to 20 feet; runs the floor well (for his age and experience) and has a good feel for the game; very productive with the minutes he is given, the Big man from Patras even though just 16 years old has a tough body, and is improved his posting up a lot the last year who spent in the Green academy of Panathinaikos. Giannis gets very good position in the paint, a very good finisher and a tough, consistent defender. Along with being a facilitator, he is also capable of scoring. Does not shoot from the outside a lot but in the post he can do the job with one way or the otehr. The scouters of Panathinaikos smell the young talent in Patras and immediately sign him up as his height and his talent are somehow quite disappearing today in Greece
.
