 Klosterneuburg Dukes stronged up its frontline with the signing of Zoran Helbich (204-F/C-74, agency: K-M Sports) Helbich arrives from Osijek, where he averaged 15 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.5apg in 26 games. Zoran will bring a lot of experience in coach Werner Sallomon's team this year.

 Allianz Swans Gmunden continued their build-up for the upcoming season. They travelled to Czech Republic for several friendlies. Gmunden overcame Liberec 86:73 to post the opening win. The Austrian outfit led right from the start and built a 45:37 advantage at halftime. Liberec never rebounded and suffered the loss at the end. Deteri Mayes (189-G-74, agency: Court Side, college: Murray St.) paced the visitors with 18 points.

 Martin Kohlmaier (218-C-84, agency: Octagon) played two games with La Palma in the Spanish LEB Oro. La Palma unable to overcome Lleida in the season opener losing 77:97. Austrian player spent 24 minutes on the court and delivered team-high 18 points and 3 boards for La Palma. He converted 6/8 from the field, including 1/1 from beyond the arc and 5/6 from free throw line. La Palma recovered in the second round when they toppled Rio Breogan 85:68 at home court.

 Furstenfeld clinched the title at the Kontext Cup in Czech Republic. The exhibition tournament featured Geofin and Pardubice from Czech Republic as well as Pezinok from Slovakia. After two victories over Czech teams Furstenfeld continued their winning streak against Pezinok in the third round. The Panthers looked solid and jumped ahead early in the game. Furstenfeld ensured a 29:24 advantage after the opening stanza.

 ABC Lions Dornbirn (2.Bundesliga) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old American forward Donnie Stith (198-F-85, college: Tulane, agency: Passing Lane). Stith played most recently at Tulane University (NCAA) in the U.S and it will be his first year in professional basketball. Donnie ranks 3rd all time in career blocked shots at Tulane and 5th all time in career wins. He should be the all-around talent the club needs to get to the next level.

 The Furstenfeld Panthers travelled to Czech Republic to take part in the Kontext Cup in Novy Jicin. Furstenfeld posted two victories at the tournament. Czech Pardubice and Geofin as well as Slovakian Pezinok accompanied the Austrian team for the Cup. Furstenfeld opened the contest against Czech Pardubice. The visitors rolled to a confident 91:81 win at the end. Shawn Ray (193-F-80, agency: Court Side, college: N.C.Central) led the charge with 17 points.

 Austria - Iceland 81:74 Austria earned the second win at the EuroBasket Division B action yesterday. They held off Iceland to improve to 2-2 record in Group A. Icelandic team fell to 1-3 record in this highly contestant pool. Jon Stefansson (195-G-82) nailed 8 points for the visitors in the opening term and the teams were all square at 14. Gunnarsson scored 5 points in a row for Iceland as they surged ahead early in the second frame.
