Finland had an easy job against Azerbaijan in the first day of Classification Stage from 17th to 19th position. After this game Finland is a step closer to position number 17 on U20 European Championship division B in Targu Mures while Azerbaijan will most probably end this competition as a last ranked team.
Azerbaijan showed the poorest performance on his championship than any other team. This time Azerbaijanis once again finished the with more than 100 points in their basket. As a reminder, just once they avoided this number and it happened against Ireland in Preliminary Round. Finland dominated in the paint finishing the game with 45 boards. On the other side Azerbaijan will fight against Finland and Switzerland to avoid the last position on this championship.
Czech Republic was much better team than Azerbaijan during the entire time. Azerbaijan once again struggled a lot with turnovers and its defense while on the other Czechs were in the right mood for this game. Interesting is that six players in Czech Republic added more than 10 points. After 14-25 in the first quarter, Czechs extended lead to fantastic 19-44 at the half way of the second frame. Ten minutes later, after Vojtech Hruban's (197-F-89) lay-up it already was 38-69 and if there was any hope for Azerbaijanis in this game it immediately has gone af.

In the battle between two winless teams of Preliminary Group B, Ireland celebrated without any bigger efforts. It means that Ireland improved its score to 1-2 while Azerbaijan dropped on 0-3 on U20 European Championship division B in Targu Mures. With this victory Ireland kept its hope for the next stage alive. It chances for that are not so good but still they exist. Namely, if Ireland succeeds to beat Sweden tomorrow and if Czech Republic looses its two games until the end, Ireland will book a spot for the Qualifying Round. However, it is hard to believe that Azerbaijan is able to beat Czechs in the last round.
The main problem for Azerbaijanis today was a stroke from behind the arc as they made just 2 of 28 attempts, which is just 7.1%. On the other side Ireland recorded 50% making 6 of 12. Keith Anderson (188-G-89) and his teammates had much better beginning as after 10 minutes it already was plus 9 for their team. Azerbaijan entered into the second stanza with attitude which resulted with 20-17 but very soon Ireland created 18-6 run for 38-23 at the half time. Nothing has changed after the breather as Keith Anderson continued with domination at the offensive and for Ireland while on the other side Amil Hamzayev (200-C-90) didn't get a proper help from his teammates. At the half way of the last frame Ireland had unreachable plus 20 in its pocket.
