Jolly JBS defends Adriatic league title !
ZKK Sibenik Jolly JBS is the new-old Adriatic league champion. In the big final of the regional championship the team from Sibenik was better than the host of the Final 4 tournament, Jedinstvo Bijelo Polje, 69-63. Constance Jinks (170-G-81, college: UNLV) top-scored for the Croatian squad delivering 12 points. Neda Lokas (182-F-85) and Luca Ivankovic (201-C-87) also shined scoring 11 pts each. Marta Cakic (175-G-82) helped with one point less. On the other side, Ruzic and Brankica Hadzovic (175-G-81) netted 13 points apiece for Jedinstvo. Popovic stopped on 11 pts. It was very exciting game. The score was tied (59-59) with less than three minutes to go, after what Constance Jinks and her teammates made 10-4 run. The host struggled a lot from the line, what at the end could be the reason of this defeat. It is important to mention that ZKK Sibenik Jolly JBS outplayed Merkur Celje 75-49 in the semis. Jedintsvo outsmarted than Gospic in thriller 67-65.
In the battle for third place Gospic CO was too strong Merkur 76-62. Marija Vrsaljko (195-C-89) was a key player for the winners collecting 24 points and 11 rebounds. Anda Jelavic (175-G-80) scored 21 and Jelena Ivezic (184-G-84) added 16 points. Lea Jagodic (179-F-91) contributed with 16 points in defeat. Question about the winner was resolved in third quarter, when Gospic jumped to plus 15.
