The Second Stage in A Bundesliga just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Xion Dukes (17-4) on the court of sixth ranked Gussing Knights on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Gussing Knights 79-71. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. 29 personal fouls committed by Xion Dukes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Serbian power forward Aleksandar Djuric (210-F/C-82) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Slovenian forward Elvis Kadic (201-80, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency) contributed with 20 points for the winners. The former international guard Christoph Nagler (196-84) answered with 21 points and 5 rebounds for Xion Dukes. Gussing Knights maintains sixth place in Bundesliga with 11-10 record. Xion Dukes at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Gussing Knights are looking forward to face higher ranked Raiffeisen Wels (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Xion Dukes will play against Oberwart Gunners and are hoping to win this game.

The most impressive performance of 1st round was 38 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Stjepan Stazic of BC Vienna.

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Oberwart Gunners (14-7) beat at home much higher ranked Gmunden Swans (15-6) 70-65 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 34-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Oberwart Gunners made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for guard Vernard Hollins (190-80, college: Wright St.) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 assists. Forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-87, college: Nevada) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Oberwart Gunners players scored in double figures. Forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: SportsTalent) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and guard Morris Curry (178-87, college: Providence) added 17 points in the effort for Gmunden Swans. Defending champion maintains fifth place in Bundesliga with 14-7 record. Loser Gmunden Swans keep the second position with six games lost. Oberwart Gunners will face league's leader Xion Dukes in Klosterneuburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gmunden Swans will play at home against Kapfenberg Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

BC Vienna looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78, agency: World Sport Agency) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Jean Francois (197-80, college: Georgia South, agency: I.D.S. Law) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-75. It was a very good performance for American forward Jeff Robinson (198-88, college: Seton Hall) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Maximilian Graf (196-88) contributed with 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Furstenfeld Panthers players scored in double figures.
