After the season ending fourth game of the ABL Finals which brought a new champion with the Klosterneuburg Dukes the ABL presented the Austrian Individual Awards 2012.

Morris Curry (178-G-87, college: Providence) of the Gmunden Swans won the MVP trophy. He finished in front of Ramiz Suljanovic (206-F/C-79) (Klosterneuburg Dukes), Dan Oppland (203-F-84, agency: SportsTalent, college: Valparaiso) (Gmunden Swans), Jeremy Fears (196-G-85, college: Bradley) (Kapfenberg Bulls) and Aleksandar Djuric (Guesiing Knights). Curry started in all of the 41 games of the Swans and averaged 18.0 ppg and 5.0 apg while shooting 43.3& from the field.

Meanwhile his coach Matthias Fischer earned his secong Coach of the Year trophy after winning the award in 2010 for the first time. Werner Sallomon , coach of the Klosterneuburg Dukes, finished second. Robert Langer (Guessing Knights), Ante Perica (Kapfenberg Bulls) and Pete Miller (WBC Wels) followed on the respective spots. Fischer won the Austrian Supercup as well as the Cup in 2011/2012.

The Most Valuable Austrian Player (MVAP) as well as the Finals MVP trophy went to Christoph Nagler (196-G-84) of the Klosterneuburg Dukes. Concerning the MVAP Nagler finished in front of Davor Lamesic (203-F-83, agency: Interperformances) (WBC Wels), Aleksandar Djuric (Guessing Knights), Matthias Mayer (204-C/F-81) (Gmunden Swans) and the ABL Season topscorer Stjepan Stazic (199-G-78, agency: World Sport Agency) of BC Vienna.

Villach Raiders (2.Bundesliga) re-signed experienced 36-year old Slovenian forward Simon Finzgar (196-80). He played there last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very good season in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Austrian 2.Bundesliga Honorable Mention. Gunners Captain Jason Johnson retires from ABL Basketball - 1 day ago

Austrian champion and cup winner Redwell Gunners Oberwart announced that their captain Jason Johnson (202-F/C-77, college: Tennessee St.) is retiring from ABL Basketball at age 39. Johnson came to to Oberwart in 2000 and has played there ever since. Johnson appeared in 550 ABL games throughout his career. BSC Raiffeisen Furstenfeld Panthers (A Bundesliga) inked 20-year old power forward Luka Gaspar (198-96). He has played for the last five years at UBC Magnofit Gussing Knights in ABL where in 13 games he averaged 1.3ppg. Gaspar helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team.
