Austria will play in the final of 2012 European Championships for Small Countries (Division C). They outplayed Malta on Saturday 53-61. In the final, Austria will play against the hosts - FYROM. Malta will meet Scotland for the Bronze and of course it is already clear they will not be able to defend the title. In defeat, Josephine Grima (193-C-84) scored 14 points. Rebecca Thoresen (178-F/G-78) collected 12 points, 7 rebs and 5 assists, while Christina Grima (175-G/F-89) added 8 points. In defeat, Nina Suritsch (189-F/C-84) shined with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Sarah Schicher (188-F-90) and Verena Bachler (175-G-88) followed with 9 points each. Malta shined in Q2 and Q3 to secure the win in this game. Quarters: 22-15, 11-21, 9-15, 11-10. Sunday is the last day of the competition in Ohrid.

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in AWBL. Basket Flames defeated BK Duchess in Vienna 59-44. BK Duchess will play next round against strong Flying Foxes trying to get back on the winning streak. Basket Flames will try to continue on its current victory against UBI Graz on the road. Flying Foxes Post SV Wien (AWBL) inked 22-year old American guard Danaejah Grant (175-94, college: St.John's). She played in the summer at Washington Mystics (WNBA). This summer Grant was drafted by Washington Mystics (WNBA) in third round (31st overall). She just graduated from St.John's University and it is her first season in pro basketball.
