Germany celebrated the second straight win at the start of the international tournament in Oberwart. They knocked down hosting Austria for 2-0 record. Tim Ohlbrecht (211-C/F-88) scored 12 points to pace well-balanced effort from Pesic team.
Austria eked out a 24:21 lead after ten minutes. But Germany poured in 32 points in the second quarter to surge ahead. They established a 53:42 halftime lead. Germany dropped 28 points in the third term to take a 22-point lead at the final intermission. Austria narrowed the deficit in the fourth period but could not avoid the loss. Bastian Doreth (183-G-89) and Per Gunther accounted for 11 points each for Germany. Jason Detrick (198-G-80, agency: Court Side, college: Oklahoma) and Rasid Mahalbasic (210-F/C-90) posted 17 points each for Austria. Sebastian Koch (200-F-88) netted 13 points in the loss.

Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions (A Bundesliga) confirmed in their roster 31-year old international point guard Benedikt Danek (176-86). He has played there for the last three seasons. Redwell Gunners Oberwart (A Bundesliga) agreed terms with American forward Denzel Gregg (201-98kg). Gregg just graduated from St.Bonaventure (NCAA). He has played there for the last four years.
