Austria opened win count at U18 European Championship in Division B. They knocked down Luxembourg for 1-1 record in Group B. Jakob Poeltl (208-PF-95) tallied 16 points and 20 rebounds to lead the winners. Luxembourg fell at 0-2 record after the loss.
The teams stayed close throughout the opening quarter. The scoreboard read 21:21 at the first break. Austria put their noses in front in the second quarter. They established a 38:34 halftime lead. Austria boosted the lead in the third term. They piled up a 6-point lead at the final intermission. Austria held their opponents to just 12 points in the fourth frame to seal the victory at the end. Timur Bas (198-PF-94) posted 14 points, while Valentin Bauer (181-PG-94) added 13 points in the victory. Bob Melcher (196-G-94) answered with 22 points for Luxembourg. Thomas Grun (194-PG-95) had 13 points in the loss.
