Austria U18-Hungary U18 71:69

Austria wins Group G of the Classification Round for 9th to 16th Place at the U18 European Championship in Division B. Austria beat Hungary 71:69 to seal the top place with 3-0 record. Hungary meanwhile finished with 2-1 record on the second place.
It was the game of two different halves. Austria started well and won the game due to the first and last quarters. They opened the game with 29-15, but lost the second and the third periods. Simon gave Hungary 52:48 after three quarters played. Austria trailed 9 points with 8 minutes to go however won the game. Knor tied it all at 59:59 and then Jakob Poeltl (208-PF-95) brought 69:65. The latter also scored two from the free throw line to seal the victory with Austria.
Jakob Poeltl erupted with 20 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and Timur Bas (198-PF-94) notched 13. Valentin Bauer (181-PG-94) poured in 11 and Benedikt Guettl (188-G-94) added 7. Zoltan Perl (194-G-95) answered with 22 points in the losing effort, while Gyorgy Goloman (204-PF-96) brought 15.

Defending champion BK Astana (National League) landed 23-year old American point guard Anthony Clemmons (186-87kg-94, college: Iowa). He played most recently at Vienna in Austrian A Bundesliga. In 35 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 17.9ppg and recorded 4.7rpg, 4.5apg and 2.0spg (in top 2) last season.
