Hungary registered the first win in Group C of 2013 EuroBasket Qualifying Round. Laszlo Ratgeber team took down visiting Austria for 1-1 record. Austria fell at 1-2 record after the loss. Peter Lorant (206-PF-85, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) delivered 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the hosts.
Hungary led by a single point 14:13 after ten minutes. However Austria pulled in charge in the second frame. They went on a 12:2 run to ensure a 25:16 lead midway through the period. Austria arrived at halftime up by 5 points 38:33. The visitors opened an 8-point lead midway through the third quarter. Hungary returned the lead but Davor Lamesic (205-PF-83, agency: Interperformances) sank two free throws and sent Austria into the final frame up by one 59:58. The hosts opened the fourth frame on a 6:2 run to surge in front. Lanegger and Davor Lamesic returned the lead to Austria but Peter Lorant and Vojvoda made it 70:69 for Hungary. Hungary soon opened a 10-point lead 81:71. Austria could not recover and had to surrender at the end. Adam Hanga (200-SG-89, agency: Peter Lorant%20Andras&AgencyNm=TSS Management">TSS Management) finished with 17 points, while Obie Trotter (188-PG-84, agency: Court Side, college: Alabama A&M) provided 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the victory. Rasid Mahalbasic (208-C-90) answered with 17 points for Austria. Davor Lamesic and Jason Detrick (195-SF-80, agency: Court Side, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 13 points each in the loss.

BBU Salzburg (2.Bundesliga) inked 22-year old Spaniard guard Sergio Jimenez (188-95). He has played for the last two years at Casvi in Spanish EBA league. In 30 games he averaged 4.5ppg, 1.5rpg and 2.0apg last season. The previous (15-16) season Jimenez played at CB Andujar Jean Paraiso Interi (also in EBA) where in only one game he had 3 points and 1 rebound. BK Klosterneuburg Dukes add Fabricio Vay - 2 days ago
The BK Klosterneuburg Dukes have added some offensive firepower. The club signed Ex ABL MVP Fabricio Vay(207-F-86, agency: Interperformances) from local rival Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions. Vay was the second leading ABL scorer last season putting up 19.4 points per contest. In addition to that Vay grabbed 8.8 rpg making him the third best rebounder of the league. The 31 year old forward played for Traiskirchen since February of 2013. He first came to Austria in 2006 playing for Traiskirchen.    [read more]
