We bring you last week's top performances from Austrians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Rasid Mahalbasic (211-90, currently plays in Poland). He led Asseco Prokom Gdynia to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked Stelmet ZG (3-2) 73-70 in the Polish TBL in Sunday night's game. Mahalbasic was MVP of the game. He recorded 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 23 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Asseco Prokom Gdynia (3-1) is placed third in the TBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Mahalbasic's first year with the team. Mahalbasic has relatively good stats this season: 10.5ppg, 4.3rpg, 2FGP: 70.8%(17-24) and FT: 61.5% in the four games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian. Ex-kelag Worthersee Piraten player is currently a member of the Austrian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former U16 international forward Matej Kljaic (193-91, currently plays in Croatia), who plays in the Croatian A1. Kljaic could not help one of league's weakest teams Djuro Djakovic (3-1) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his good performance Djuro Djakovic was defeated 76-67 on the road by the leading KK Zagreb. Kljaic was the second best scorer with 11 points. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Kljaic has been at the team for four years. This season he averages: 3.8ppg. Kljaic is another player who holds two passports: Austrian and Croatian. Despite he played previously for the Croatian U18 national team, Kljaic played also for the Austrian U16 national team in 2007.

   #3. The Austrian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard Anton Maresch (191-91, agency: Two Points, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to a River Andorra's victory against the tenth-ranked Melilla Baloncesto (1-3) 89-77 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night. Maresch recorded 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. B.C. River Andorra (3-0) is placed in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. This year Maresch's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 29.4%, 3FGP: 57.1% and FT: 75.0% in the four games. He is also a member of the Austrian senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Thomas Schreiner (195-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Anton Maresch. But that was another game of his team in Spanish LEB Gold which we would like to mention. Schreiner managed to help B.C. River Andorra to win against the sixth-ranked Meridiano Alicante (2-2) 79-77. He scored 5 points and added 5 assists. B.C. River Andorra (3-0) is placed in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. Schreiner belongs to league's best passers (ranked #4) and also on the list of most steals (fifth place). His total stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.5apg and 2.0spg. Schreiner is also Austrian national team player.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Austrian passport:

   #1. Jamie Kohn (195-G-89, college: E.Connecticut, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Tees Valley Mohawks' victory against the 12th-ranked Derby Trailblazers (0-1) 84-72 in the British EBL D1 (second division) last Saturday. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 20 minutes. It was his first game for Tees Valley Mohawks this season. His team is placed third in the EBL D1. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go.

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in 2.Bundesliga. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Mustangs (14-4) in Dornbirn on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by fifth ranked Lions (14-5) 77-75.
