Shawn Ray claims Austrian A Bundesliga weekly honour - Oct 30, 2012

Experienced American Shawn Ray (194-G/F-80) had a great game in the last round for league's leader BC Vienna and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 32-year old swingman had a double-double of 21 points and eleven rebounds, while his team crushed Oberwart (#6, 2-1) with 19-point margin 71-52. It allowed BC Vienna to consolidate first place in the Austrian A Bundesliga. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but BC Vienna already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Ray had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be BC Vienna's top player in his first season with the team. N.Carolina Central graduate has very impressive stats this year. Ray is in league's top in points (9th best: 19.3ppg), rebounds (7th best: 7.8rpg) and averages solid 2.5spg,51.4% FGP and 45.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old American forward Tyler Tiedeman (201-F-85, agency: Interperformances) of Wels. Tiedeman impressed basketball fans with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he lead Wels to another comfortable win outscoring Arkadia (#11, 0-4) 103-81. This victory allowed Wels to move up to 3rd position in the standings. His team's 3-1 record is not bad at all. Tiedeman is a newcomer at Wels and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.8ppg (#1). He also registered 6.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was former international center Martin Kohlmaier (218-C-84) of St.Polten (#8). Kohlmaier scored 21 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of St.Polten, leading his team to a 92-78 easy win against slightly higher-ranked Klosterneub. (#7, 2-2). St.Polten can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-3 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Kohlmaier he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Kohlmaier has individually a great season in Austria. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.5rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Martin Speiser (202-F-83) of St.Polten - 28 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Mark Sanchez (201-F-87) of Kapfenberg - 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Milan Stegnjaic (204-F/C-81) of UBSC Graz - 24 points and 12 rebounds
7. Elvis Kadic (201-F-80) of Gussing - 30 points
8. Davor Lamesic (205-PF-83) of Wels - 24 points and 12 rebounds
9. Radosav Spasojevic (204-F/C-92) of Arkadia - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Samo Grum (193-G/F-79) of Furstenfeld - 34 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Dimitrov is back at Arkadia, ex Lukoil Acad. - 3 days ago

Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions (A Bundesliga) signed 23-year old Bulgarian international power forward Dimitar Dimitrov (203-93, agency: Interperformances). It is actually his comeback to Arkadia Lions as he has played here before. Dimitrov already started the season at Lukoil Academic Sofia in Bulgarian NBL league. The last season he played also at Lukoil Academic Sofia (also in NBL) where in 34 games he had 10.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg. Dimitrov helped them to win the league title (tw...   [read more]

Traiskirchen Lions part ways with Jason Detrick and Luka Gvozden, may sign Dimitar Dimitrov - 3 days ago

The Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions have parted ways with Jason Detrick (195-SF-80, college: Oklahoma, agency: Three Eye Sports) and Luka Gvozden (184-PG-93). Their respective 1 month contracts were over and were not extended. The Lions wanted to sign Detrick for the remainder of the season but the two parties couldn't agree on a deal. Rumours have it that the Lions may add Dimitar Dimitrov (203-PF-93, agency: Interperformances) in stead who already played for the Lions during the 13/14 campai...   [read more]
