Here is the weekly review of the top performing Austrian players, who play currently abroad.

Rasid Mahalbasic
Rasid Mahalbasic
#1. This week's number one is an international center Rasid Mahalbasic (211-90, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Poland. He could not help Asseco Prokom Gdynia (1-3) to beat Maccabi T-A (4-0). Mahalbasic recorded 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 21 minutes on the court. The sixth-placed Asseco Prokom Gdynia was crushed 93-62 on the road by the leading Maccabi T-A in the group B of Euroleague. It's Mahalbasic's first season with the team. This year he averages: 5.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 2FGP: 47.4% and FT: 37.5% in the four games he played so far. Mahalbasic has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian. Ex-kelag Worthersee Piraten player is currently a member of the Austrian senior national team.

Anton Maresch
Anton Maresch
#2. Second place goes to an international shooting guard Anton Maresch (191-91, agency: Two Points, currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in a River Andorra's victory against the tenth-ranked Ourense (0-1) crushing them 84-63 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Friday. Maresch scored 15 points and had 3 steals. B.C. River Andorra (3-0) is placed in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Maresch's overall stats this year are: 9.2ppg, 2.8rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 26.3%, 3FGP: 66.7% and FT: 75.0%. He is in the roster of the Austrian senior national team.

Matej Kljaic
Matej Kljaic
#3. The Austrian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U16 international forward Matej Kljaic (193-91, currently plays in Croatia), who plays in the Croatian A1. Kljaic was not able to help Djuro Djakovic (3-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance Djuro Djakovic lost 67-76 in Zagreb to the leading KK Zagreb. Kljaic was the second best scorer with 11 points in a mere 18 minutes. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Kljaic has been at the team for four years. This season he averages only 4.0ppg, 2FGP: 44.4% in the five games. Kljaic is another player who holds two passports: Austrian and Croatian. Despite he played previously for the Croatian U18 national team, Kljaic played also for the Austrian U16 national team in 2007.

Thomas Schreiner
Thomas Schreiner
#4. Point guard Thomas Schreiner (195-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Anton Maresch and both played together in the last Spanish LEB Gold game. Schreiner contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Ourense (0-1) crushing them 84-63. He scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Schreiner's overall stats this season are: 6.6ppg, 3.4rpg, 3.6apg and 1.8spg. He is also Austrian national team player.

Benjamin Ortner
Benjamin Ortner
#5. International power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Montepaschi Siena in a 3-point victoryagainst the closely-ranked Chalon/Saor (1-3) 93-90 in the Euroleague last Friday. Ortner recorded only 2 points in 6 minutes on the court. Montepaschi Siena (1-3) is placed fifth in group B. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. This year Ortner averages just 1.0ppg in the two games. He plays currently for the Austrian national team.

Jason Detrick
Jason Detrick
#6. Small forward Jason Detrick (195-80, agency: Three Eye Sports, college: Oklahoma, currently plays in Cyprus) was not able to secure a victory for Apollon (0-2) in their game against Omonia (2-0) in the Cypriot Division A. Despite his very good performance on Sunday night Detrick was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 4 assists. Detrick's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Detrick belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #2. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Detrick averages: 21.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.0apg. He is a naturalized American. Detrick is an international player who is currently on the senior Austrian National Team roster. He used to play for UBC Stahlbau Oberwart Gunners in Austrian league.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Austrian passport:

#1. Jamie Kohn (195-G-89, college: E.Connecticut, currently plays in United Kingdom) led Tees Valley Mohawks to an easy victory against the league outsider Worthing Thunder (0-2) crushing them 123-81 in the British EBL D1 (second division) in Saturday night's game. Kohn had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 3 steals in 29 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Kohn's first season in pro basketball. Tees Valley Mohawks (2-0) is placed fifth in the EBL D1. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Kohn has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.5ppg, 8.0rpg, 3.0apg and 2.0spg in the two games he played so far.

Other top Austrian players, who play abroad:

Peter Klemm (197-F-85) plays for Tuebingen II in German Regionalliga
Michael Kaiser (195-G-82) plays for TS Longhorns Herzogenaurach in German Regionalliga
