There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most interesting game of round 6 in the A Bundesliga was a home defeat of 6th ranked UBSC Graz (3-3) by fourth ranked Xion Dukes (4-2) who outscored them by 18 points 103-85. The game without a history. Xion Dukes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Xion Dukes outrebounded UBSC Graz 40-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. Bosnian power forward Ramiz Suljanovic (205-79) scored 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Curtis Bobb (198-78, college: Utah St.) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American swingman Michael Anthony Dale (197-84, college: S.Illinois) with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Wels and Gussing. UBSC Graz lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with three games lost. Xion Dukes is looking forward to face league's leader BC Vienna in Wien in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UBSC Graz will play on the road against Raiffeisen Wels (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Thomas Klepeisz supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Raiffeisen Wels. Gussing Knights moved-up to second place, which they share with Klosterneub. and Wels. Gussing Knights will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiffeisen Wels will play at home against UBSC Graz and hope to get back on the winning track.

At the other side the best for losing team was Joe Dean Shaw who recorded 25 points and 9 rebounds. Undefeated BC Vienna have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Kapfenberg Bulls at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. BC Vienna will meet at home league's second-placed Xion Dukes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Gmunden Swans in Gmunden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Gmunden Swans defeated Redwell Gunners Oberwart 85-71 on Sunday. Robert Arnold scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Gmunden Swans' coach Kresimir Basic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gmunden Swans moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Oberwart. Redwell Gunners Oberwart lost third consecutive game. Gmunden Swans will face higher ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.



Gussing - Wels 90-80

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Raiffeisen Wels (4-2) against fourth ranked Gussing Knights (4-2) on Monday night. Visiting Raiffeisen Wels were defeated by Gussing Knights in Gussing 90-80. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Raiffeisen Wels. The game was mostly controlled by Gussing Knights. Raiffeisen Wels was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and international point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: TSS Management) supported him with 18 points and 5 assists. Heard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Raiffeisen Wels. American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Gussing Knights and four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights moved-up to second place, which they share with Klosterneub. and Wels. Gussing Knights will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiffeisen Wels will play at home against UBSC Graz and hope to get back on the winning track.

Furstenfeld Panthers has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Traiskirchen, where they defeated Arkadia Lions (0-5) 97-85. Arkadia Lions were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 43-30 second half run of Furstenfeld Panthers. Furstenfeld Panthers shot 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Arkadia Lions only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Arkadia Lions 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American power forward Maurice Pearson (206-89, college: Georgetown, KY) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Slovenian center Blaz Cresnar (214-86) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Worth to mention Cresnar played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Montenegrin power forward Radosav Spasojevic (204-92, agency: Interperformances) replied with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Maximilian Graf (196-88) added 26 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Arkadia Lions. Gmunden Swans defeated Redwell Gunners Oberwart 85-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Redwell Gunners Oberwart was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gmunden Swans made 9 blocks. American forward Robert Arnold (198-88, college: Boise St.) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian forward Enis Murati (194-88) chipped in 14 points during the contest.
