American power forward Maurice Pearson (206-F/C-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Furstenfeld, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6. The 23-year old player had a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds, while his team beat Arkadia (#11, 0-5), the league's bottom-ranked team 97-85. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. Furstenfeld is placed at 9th position in Austrian A Bundesliga. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 4 games and recorded just one victory. Pearson turned to be Furstenfeld's top player in his first season with the team. Former Georgetown College star has very solid stats this year. Pearson. Pearson is in league's top in points (2nd best: 22.6ppg) and averages impressive 65.2% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old American Ian Boylan (197-G/F-83) of league's leader BC Vienna. Boylan had a very good evening with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course BC Vienna cruised to a 87-76 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Kapfenberg (#5, 3-2). Of course BC Vienna still keep the league's top spot. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 6 games without any defeat. Boylan is a newcomer at BC Vienna, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was Bosnia and Herzegovina forward Ramiz Suljanovic (205-F/C-79) of league's second-best Klosterneub.. Suljanovic scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Klosterneub., leading his team to a 103-85 easy win against the lower-ranked UBSC Graz (#6, 3-3). Klosterneub. needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Suljanovic has a great season in Austria. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.5rpg (7th best).
Other top performing players last week: 4. Robert Arnold (198-F-88) of Gmunden - 23 points and 8 rebounds 5. Marcus Heard (201-F-84) of Gussing - 21 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Jason Chappell (208-F/C-83) of Klosterneub. - 19 points and 8 rebounds 7. Joe Dean Shaw (199-F-87) of Kapfenberg - 25 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Radosav Spasojevic (204-F/C-92) of Arkadia - 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists 9. Maximilian Graf (196-G/F-88) of Arkadia - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Davor Lamesic (205-PF-83) of Wels - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
