We bring you last week's top performances from Austrians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Benjamin Ortner
Benjamin Ortner
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Euroleague). He contributed to a 2-point Montepaschi Siena's victory against the closely-ranked ALBA Berlin (2-4) 75-73 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Ortner scored 8 points and blocked 2 shots in 19 minutes on the court. Montepaschi Siena (3-3) is placed third in group B. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Ortner's first season with the team. This year he averages: 4.3ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 53.8% in the four games he played so far. Ortner is currently a member of the Austrian senior national team.

Rasid Mahalbasic
Rasid Mahalbasic
#2. Second place goes to an international center Rasid Mahalbasic (211-90, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Poland. He could not help Asseco Prokom Gdynia (1-5) to beat Chalon/Saor (2-4). Mahalbasic scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The sixth-placed Asseco Prokom Gdynia was defeated 76-70 on the road by the higher-ranked Chalon/Saor (#5) in the group B of Euroleague. It was Asseco Prokom Gdynia's third consecutive loss in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Mahalbasic's overall stats this season are: 6.3ppg, 4.7rpg, 2FGP: 54.8% and FT: 33.3%. He has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian. Ex-kelag Worthersee Piraten player is in the roster of the Austrian senior national team.

Thomas Schreiner
Thomas Schreiner
#3. The Austrian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Thomas Schreiner (195-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management, currently plays in Spain). Schreiner led River Andorra to a victory over the eighth-ranked Planasa NV (3-4) 81-77 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Friday night. He was MVP of the game. Schreiner recorded 19 points and had 3 steals in 27 minutes. B.C. River Andorra (3-0) is placed in the LEB Gold. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Schreiner's overall stats are: 8.1ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.4apg, 1.9spg, 2FGP: 35.0%, 3FGP: 34.5% and FT: 92.9% in the seven games. He is also a member of the Austrian senior national team.

Matej Kljaic
#4. Forward Matej Kljaic (193-91, currently plays in Balkan League), who plays in Croatia was not able to help Djuro Djakovic (1-4) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Kljaic's good performance Djuro Djakovic was crushed 101-69 at home by the leading Galil Gilboa. He scored 11 points. There are only three games left until the end of the Balkan League Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Kljaic has been at the team for four years. Kljaic's total stats this season are: 5.8ppg and 1.6rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Austrian and Croatian. Despite Kljaic played previously for the Croatian U18 national team, he is currently in the Austrian U16 national team roster.

International shooting guard Anton Maresch (191-91, agency: Two Points, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Thomas Schreiner and both played together in the last Spanish LEB Gold game. This year Maresch's total stats are: 9.3ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.3apg in the seven games. He plays currently for the Austrian national team.
