The game between Top Four teams took place in Kapfenberg. Second ranked host Kapfenberg Bulls (9-3) defeated 3rd placed Xion Dukes (8-4) 87-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Xion Dukes. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 31-24. But Xion Dukes won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kapfenberg Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-F-87, college: Nevada) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and his fellow American import guard Giovonne Woods (191-86, college: Cent.Washington, agency: Court Side) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. At the losing side American swingman Curtis Bobb (198-78, college: Utah St.) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Kapfenberg Bulls have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-3 record behind leader BC Vienna, which they share with Gmunden. Defending champion Xion Dukes dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls is looking forward to face Raiffeisen Wels (#6) on the road in the next round. Xion Dukes will play against the league's second-placed Gmunden Swans in Gmunden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) nailed 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Benedikt Danek accounted for 15 points and 6 assists. The former international center Martin Kohlmaier (218-84) came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds for St.Polten in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for BC Vienna. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. St.Polten at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. BC Vienna will play against Furstenfeld Panthers (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. St.Polten will play against Gussing Knights and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Raiffeisen Wels will play against Kapfenberg Bulls (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 13 Gussing won against Arkadia on the opponent's court 79-64. Gmunden managed to outperform UBSC Graz in a home game 106-94.


Arkadia - Gussing 64-79

Very expected game in Traiskirchen where 11th ranked Arkadia Lions (1-11) were defeated by seventh ranked Gussing Knights (6-6) 79-64 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Gussing Knights's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-11 extending their advantage to 15 points. International point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: TSS Management) fired 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Slovenian forward Elvis Kadic (201-80, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Gussing Knights' coach Radomir Mijanovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian-Italian center Matias Bortolin (205-93, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Montenegrin power forward Radosav Spasojevic (204-92, agency: Interperformances) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Arkadia Lions players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wels. Loser Arkadia Lions stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Gussing Knights will meet at home St.Polten (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Arkadia Lions will play against UBSC Graz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Gmunden - UBSC Graz 106-94

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Gmunden Swans (9-3) defeated at home 8th ranked UBSC Graz (4-8) 106-94 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. UBSC Graz managed to win second period 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to UBSC Graz's 44 and made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded UBSC Graz 39-22 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gmunden Swans looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by UBSC Graz's players. American forward Robert Arnold (198-88, college: Boise St.) fired 19 points and 7 assists for the winners (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Joshua Brown (187-88, college: Towson) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Sebastian Schaal (189-90) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Four Gmunden Swans and five UBSC Graz players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Gmunden Swans. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kapfenberg. UBSC Graz lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Gmunden Swans will meet Xion Dukes (#4) in the next round. UBSC Graz will play against Arkadia Lions (#11) in Traiskirchen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

A Bundesliga top team - BC Vienna (10-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked St.Polten (2-10) 93-72. The game without a history. BC Vienna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. BC Vienna forced 19 St.Polten turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for BC Vienna especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. The BK Mattersburg Rocks have signed veteran big man Ramiz Suljanovic (205-F/C-79). The 37 year old center retired from ABL basketball last season. He played for the BK Klosterneuburg Dukes since 2009 with whom he won an ABL championship in 2012, a cup title in 2013 and two Supercups.
