The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked BC Vienna (16-5) on the court of seventh ranked Gussing Knights on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Gussing Knights 83-79. The game without a history. Gussing Knights led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. International forward Sebastian Koch (202-88) helped adding 18 points. Gussing Knights' coach Radomir Mijanovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. British power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Gussing Knights (12-9) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Oberwart. BC Vienna at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Gussing Knights is looking forward to face higher ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Vienna will play against Redwell Gunners Oberwart and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Oberwart. Sixth ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (12-9) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-ranked Gmunden Swans (15-6) 71-68 on Thursday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Seamus Boxley (201-82, college: Portland St.) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. Darnell Hinson accounted for 23 points. American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: SportsTalent) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Gmunden Swans in the defeat. Redwell Gunners Oberwart have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Gussing. Gmunden Swans at the other side keep the second position with six games lost. They share it with Klosterneub. and Kapfenberg. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will play against league's leader BC Vienna in Wien in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gmunden Swans will play at home against Xion Dukes in Klosterneuburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The victory was the third consecutive win for Xion Dukes. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Gmunden and Kapfenberg. Xion Dukes will meet league's second-placed Gmunden Swans in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Gussing Knights and hope to secure a win.
11th ranked Arkadia Lions (1-20) were outscored at home by eighth ranked UBSC Graz (8-13) with the biggest margin this round 88-72. Michael Anthony Dale orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 4 assists. UBSC Graz maintains eighth place with 8-13 record. Arkadia Lions lost their tenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. UBSC Graz's next round opponent will be St.Polten (#10) at home. Arkadia Lions will play against Raiffeisen Wels.

In the last game of round 23 Furstenfeld won against St.Polten on the opponent's court 95-88.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists by Samo Grum of Furstenfeld.



Oberwart - Gmunden 71-68

Important game to mention about took place in Oberwart. Sixth ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (12-9) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-ranked Gmunden Swans (15-6) 71-68 on Thursday evening. Gmunden Swans were ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 18-11 charge of Redwell Gunners Oberwart, which allowed them to win the game. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Gmunden Swans were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Seamus Boxley (201-82, college: Portland St.) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican point guard Darnell Hinson (186-80, college: Northeastern St.) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (15-6) against fourth ranked Xion Dukes (15-6) on Monday night. Visiting Kapfenberg Bulls were defeated by Xion Dukes in Klosterneuburg 84-72. The game was mostly controlled by Xion Dukes. Kapfenberg Bulls managed to win third quarter 19-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Xion Dukes forced 20 Kapfenberg Bulls turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-Slovenian guard Damir Zeleznik (185-80) who scored 12 points and 4 assists. The former international guard Kevin Payton (196-86, college: Minnesota) chipped in 9 points and 6 assists. Xion Dukes' coach Werner Sallomon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked St.Polten's (3-18) home loss to ninth ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (7-14) 88-95. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 25-20 St.Polten's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 95-88 at the end of the game. Strangely St.Polten outrebounded Furstenfeld Panthers 37-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. Slovenian swingman Samo Grum (193-79) orchestrated the victory by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists. American swingman Cor-J Cox (195-90, college: Miss.Valley St.) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Cox is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international forward Martin Speiser (202-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and the former international center Martin Kohlmaier (218-84) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for St.Polten. Four St.Polten players scored in double figures. Furstenfeld Panthers maintains ninth place with 7-14 record. St.Polten lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 18 games lost. Furstenfeld Panthers will have a break next round. St.Polten will play on the road against UBSC Graz (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It looked good early as Arkadia Lions took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then UBSC Graz had a 25-20 second period charge getting the lead and Arkadia Lions were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-88. UBSC Graz shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. American swingman Michael Anthony Dale (197-84, college: S.Illinois) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 4 assists. Croatian power forward Milan Stegnjaic (204-81) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. BC Hallmann Vienna has inked four new American import players. The newly built team agreed terms with Anthony Clemmons (186-PG-94, college: Iowa), Donald Lawes (201-C, college: Farmingdale St.), Dominique Coleman (189-G-84, college: Colorado) and Marvin Williams (203-C-93, college: La-Monroe).
