Ryan Richards claims Austrian A Bundesliga weekly honour - Feb 26, 2013

Ryan
Richards
Talented British Ryan Richards (212-C/F-91, agency: Interperformances) had a great game in the last round for league's leader BC Vienna and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 24.
The 21-year old had a double-double of 22 points and eleven rebounds, while his team crushed Oberwart (#6, 12-10) with 16-point margin 81-65. It allowed BC Vienna to consolidate first place in the Austrian A Bundesliga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. BC Vienna has a very solid 17-5 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Richards just recently signed at BC Vienna and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Ryan Richards averages just after two games 27.5ppg and 10.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old former international center Martin Kohlmaier (218-C-84) of St.Polten. Kohlmaier impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as St.Polten lost that game 63-79 to slightly higher-ranked UBSC Graz (#8, 9-13). St.Polten is still in a red zone at 10th spot in the standings. 19 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories St.Polten managed to get this year. Kohlmaier is a newcomer at St.Polten and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Montenegrin Radosav Spasojevic (204-F/C-92, agency: Interperformances) of Arkadia (#11). Spasojevic scored 25 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite Spasojevic's great performance Arkadia lost 74-87 to the higher-ranked Wels (#5, 12-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Arkadia can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 1-21 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Spasojevic he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Spasojevic has individually a great season in Austria. After 22 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.5ppg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Robert Arnold (198-F-88) of Gmunden - 10 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists
5. Fabricio Vay (206-F-86) of Arkadia - 25 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Dario Hunt (203-F-89) of Gussing - 22 points and 6 rebounds
7. Mark Sanchez (201-F-87) of Kapfenberg - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Seamus Boxley (201-F-82) of Oberwart - 17 points and 11 rebounds
9. Demetrius Nelson (203-F/C-86) of Kapfenberg - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Tyler Tiedeman (201-F-85) of Wels - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

A Bundesliga Round 11: Gmunden Swans lose to Kapfenberg Bulls - 2 days ago

The biggest surprise took place in Kapfenberg where host Kapfenberg Bulls (5-5) beat league's leader Gmunden Swans (7-3) 74-68 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gmunden Swans. The hosts trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 24-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game.
