The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked BC Vienna (17-6) in Klosterneuburg on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Xion Dukes (16-7) 92-79. The game without a history. Xion Dukes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Xion Dukes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by BC Vienna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Moritz Lanegger (190-90, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Christoph Nagler (196-84) contributed with 20 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Swingman Florian Trmal (193-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for BC Vienna. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Gmunden. BC Vienna at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They share it with Kapfenberg. Xion Dukes is looking forward to face Redwell Gunners Oberwart (#6) on the road in the next round. BC Vienna will play against the league's second-placed Kapfenberg Bulls (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game for Kapfenberg Bulls (17-6) which hosted in Kapfenberg their biggest opponent Gmunden Swans (16-7). Third ranked Kapfenberg Bulls managed to get a 14-point victory 89-75. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American-Mexican forward Mark Sanchez (201-87, college: Boise St., agency: Court Side) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Demetrius Nelson chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: SportsTalent) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Gmunden Swans' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kapfenberg Bulls used an opportunity after BC Vienna lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Gmunden Swans at the other side dropped to the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Klosterneub.. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against league's leader BC Vienna in Wien in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gmunden Swans will play on the road against Gussing Knights and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game between sixth ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (13-10) and 7th ranked Gussing Knights (12-11) in Oberwart on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Redwell Gunners Oberwart outscored guests from Gussing 73-52. Jason Johnson nailed a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Marcus Heard came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Gussing Knights in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Redwell Gunners Oberwart maintains sixth place with 13-10 record. Loser Gussing Knights keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will meet at home higher ranked Xion Dukes (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gussing Knights will play against Gmunden Swans in Gmunden and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 25 UBSC Graz was beaten by Furstenfeld on the road 84-76. St.Polten was destroyed by Wels on its own court 79-98.
The most impressive performance of 25th round was 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists by Tyler Tiedeman of Wels.



Furstenfeld - UBSC Graz 84-76

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (8-14) beat at home 8th ranked UBSC Graz (9-14) 84-76 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But UBSC Graz won third quarter 14-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Furstenfeld Panthers made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game, while UBSC Graz only scored nine points from the stripe. Slovenian center Blaz Cresnar (214-86) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Janou Rubin (193-82, college: UCLA, agency: Two Points) accounted for 19 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Cresnar is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Furstenfeld Panthers players scored in double figures. American swingman Michael Dale (197-84, college: S.Illinois) came up with 32 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) added 18 points respectively for UBSC Graz in the defeat. Furstenfeld Panthers maintains ninth place with 8-14 record. Loser UBSC Graz keeps the eighth position with 14 games lost. Furstenfeld Panthers will meet higher ranked Raiffeisen Wels (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UBSC Graz will have a break next round.

Very expected game when 10th ranked St.Polten (3-20) was smashed at home by fifth ranked Raiffeisen Wels (13-9) 98-79 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 51-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Tyler Tiedeman (201-85, college: Boise St., agency: Interperformances) nailed 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian swingman Maksim Kovacevic (199-87) came up with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Martin Kohlmaier (218-84) added 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively for St.Polten in the defeat. St.Polten's coach Uros Vukadinovic tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Raiffeisen Wels have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 13-9 record. St.Polten lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 20 games lost. Raiffeisen Wels will meet at home Furstenfeld Panthers (#9) in the next round. Austrian champion and cup winner Redwell Gunners Oberwart announced that their captain Jason Johnson (202-F/C-77, college: Tennessee St.) is retiring from ABL Basketball at age 39. Johnson came to to Oberwart in 2000 and has played there ever since. Johnson appeared in 550 ABL games throughout his career.
