AWBL Round 7: Basket Flames lose to BK Duchess - Nov 7, 2016

Very significant was BK Duchess' (#3, 5-2) victory against their biggest opponent Basket Flames (5-2) 72-59. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-59. BK Duchess have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Basket Flames. BK Duchess is looking forward to face league's leader Flying Foxes in Wien in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Basket Flames will play at home against UBI Graz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
AWBL top team - Flying Foxes (112-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked ATUS Gratkorn (0-112) 82-46. Undefeated Flying Foxes have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 112-0 record. ATUS Gratkorn at the other side still closes the standings. Flying Foxes will play against BK Duchess (#3) in Klosterneuburg in the next round, which may be the game of the day. ATUS Gratkorn will play on the road against BC Vienna in Wien and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Graz supposed to be also quite interesting. 4th placed BC Vienna (2-5) played at the court of fifth ranked UBI Graz (2-5). UBI Graz smashed BC Vienna 77-47 on Saturday. UBI Graz moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated BC Vienna. BC Vienna lost their fourth game in a row. UBI Graz will meet league's second-placed Basket Flames in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Vienna will play against ATUS Gratkorn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

LFB newcomer Femeni Sant Adria tabbed 29-year old American point guard Andrea Riley (165-62kg-88, college: Oklahoma State). She played most recently at Flying Foxes in Austrian AWBL. In 7 Central Europe Women League games she was the best scorer with impressive 24.9ppg and recorded 4.7rpg, 5.3apg (leader !!!) and 3.9spg (leader !!!) last season.
