2.Bundesliga Round 12: Rocks lose to KOS - Jan 8, 2017

The most important game in the last round took place in Klagenfurt between second ranked Rocks (9-2) and seventh ranked KOS (5-6) on Sunday night. Rocks were defeated by KOS in a tough game on the road 57-63. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Rocks. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 63-57. KOS moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Timberwolves. Rocks at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. KOS is looking forward to face higher ranked Raiders (#5) in Villach in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rocks will have a break next round.
Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to fifth ranked Raiders (7-4) 82-70. Raiders maintains fifth position with 7-4 record. Worthersee Piraten at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Raiders will play against KOS (#7) in Klagenfurt in the next round. Worthersee Piraten will play on the road against the league's leader Mustangs (#1) in Mistelbach and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Vienna was also quite interesting. Second ranked Mustangs (10-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Timberwolves (5-6). Mustangs defeated Timberwolves 72-61 on Saturday. Mustangs have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Timberwolves keep the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with KOS. Mustangs will meet at home bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timberwolves will play against UBC St. Polten (#4) in St.Polten and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 12 BBU S. were beaten by Lions on the road 81-72.

Kosovo - Rocks 63-57

Lions - BBU S. 81-72

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lions (8-3) beat 7th ranked BBU S. (4-7) in Dornbirn 81-72 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Lions have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Mustangs. Loser BBU S. dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. Lions will meet Warriors (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BBU S. will play against Flames and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Piraten - Raiders 70-82

Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to fifth ranked Raiders (7-4) 82-70. The game was mostly controlled by Raiders. Worthersee Piraten was better in fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Raiders maintains fifth position with 7-4 record. Worthersee Piraten at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Raiders will play against KOS (#7) in Klagenfurt in the next round. Worthersee Piraten will play on the road against the league's leader Mustangs (#1) in Mistelbach and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The BK Klosterneuburg Dukes have added some offensive firepower. The club signed Ex ABL MVP Fabricio Vay(207-F-86, agency: Interperformances) from local rival Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions. Vay was the second leading ABL scorer last season putting up 19.4 points per contest. In addition to that Vay grabbed 8.8 rpg making him the third best rebounder of the league. Austrian runner up Oberwart Gunners have announced that the club has inked Lluis Pino as their new head coach. Pino replaces Chris Chougaz who was in talks to stay for a third season but decided to leave. Pino came to Austria last season coaching UBSC Raiffeisen Graz. Hapoel Beer Sheva (National League) signed 24-year old American guard Andell Cumberbatch (196-88kg-93, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Octagon Europe). He played last season at Redwell Gunners Oberwart in Austrian A Bundesliga. In 41 games he had very impressive stats: 15.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.4apg and 1.8spg (in top 3).
