2.Bundesliga Round 13: KOS defeats Raiders in the closest game of the week - Jan 15, 2017

The most exciting game of round 13 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in Klagenfurt. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Raiders (7-5) to seventh ranked KOS (6-6) 83-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Raiders. Raiders cut a 16-point first quarter deficit to two at the end of the game. KOS moved-up to sixth place. Raiders at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. KOS will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiders will play at home against the league's leader Mustangs (#1) and are hoping to win this game.
2.Bundesliga top team - Mustangs (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Worthersee Piraten (0-12) in Mistelbach 85-60. Mustangs have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Worthersee Piraten at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Mustangs will play against Raiders (#5) in Villach in the next round. Worthersee Piraten will play at home against UBC St. Polten (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 13: Timberwolves lost to Dragons on the opponent's court 71-80. BBU S. managed to outperform Flames in a home game 74-64. Lions managed to beat Warriors on the road 74-58.

Dragons - Timberwolves 80-71

Rather expected game in St.Polten where 7th ranked Timberwolves (5-7) were defeated by fourth ranked UBC St. Polten (8-3) 80-71. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-8. But Timberwolves won second period 28-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UBC St. Polten maintains fourth place with 8-3 record. Timberwolves lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with BBU S.. UBC St. Polten will play against bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten (#11) in Klagenfurt in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timberwolves will play at home against BBU S. (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

BBU S. - Flames 74-64

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked BBU S.'s (5-7) home victory over 9th ranked Flames (2-9) 74-64. The game was mostly controlled by BBU S.. Flames was better in second period 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BBU S. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Timberwolves. Flames lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Warriors. BBU S. will play against Timberwolves (#7) in Vienna in the next round. Flames will play against Warriors and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Kosovo - Raiders 83-81

Warriors - Lions 58-74

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Warriors (2-9) were defeated at home by third ranked Lions (9-3) 74-58. The game was mostly controlled by Lions. Warriors was better in fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Lions. They maintain third place with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Mustangs. Warriors lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Flames. Lions will play against league's second-placed Rocks in Mattersburg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Warriors will play on the road against Flames (#9) in Wien and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The BK Klosterneuburg Dukes have added some offensive firepower. The club signed Ex ABL MVP Fabricio Vay(207-F-86, agency: Interperformances) from local rival Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions. Vay was the second leading ABL scorer last season putting up 19.4 points per contest. In addition to that Vay grabbed 8.8 rpg making him the third best rebounder of the league.
