We bring you last week's top performances from Austrians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Rasid Mahalbasic
Rasid Mahalbasic
#1. This week's number one is an international center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Spain). He could not help Sevilla (7-11) in their last game. Despite Mahalbasic's good performance Sevilla lost 86-91 on the road to the league outsider (#17) La ICL Manresa. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 10 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. It was Sevilla's third consecutive loss in a row. It's Mahalbasic's first season with the team. Mahalbasic has relatively good stats this year: 12.4ppg, 6.4rpg, 2FGP: 66.7%(38-57) and FT: 85.2% in eight games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian. Ex-kelag Worthersee Piraten player is currently a member of the Austrian senior national team.

Benjamin Ortner
Benjamin Ortner
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward Benjamin Ortner (206-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Basketball Champions League). Ortner managed to help Umana Reyer Venezia to win against the sixth-ranked Oradea (6-8) 89-78 in the Basketball Champions League last Tuesday. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Umana Reyer Venezia (9-5) is placed third in group B. There are only two games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Ortner averages: 4.0ppg, 3.8rpg, 2FGP: 46.7% and FT: 58.3%. He played for the Austrian national team in 2013.

David Kramer
David Kramer
#3. The Austrian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U16 international point guard David Kramer (191-97, currently plays in EuroCup). He was not able to help ratiopharm Ulm in their game against Khimky (3-1) in the Eurocup. Kramer's contribution was not very remarkable in Wednesday's game. He recorded only 3 points. ratiopharm Ulm was edged 85-84 on the opponent's court by the second-ranked Khimky. So far ratiopharm Ulm lost all four games in the Second Stage. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. This season Kramer averages just 0.4ppg, 2FGP: 33.3%. He is another player who holds two passports: Austrian and German. Former Redwell Gunners Oberwart starter played for the Austrian U16 national team four years ago.

Thomas Schreiner
Thomas Schreiner
#4. Point guard Thomas Schreiner (195-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Andorra (10-8) in their game against Joventut (5-13) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Schreiner did not have that impressive stats last Sunday. He recorded only 3 points in 14 minutes. Andorra lost 59-74 in Badalona to the much lower-ranked (#15) Joventut. Schreiner has been at the team for five years. This season Schreiner's overall stats are: 4.3ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.4apg in 18 games. He is also Austrian national team player.

Thomas Klepeisz
Thomas Klepeisz
#5. International point guard Thomas Klepeisz (186-91, currently plays in Germany) couldn't help Braunschweig (2-13) in their game against ALBA Berlin (14-5) in the German BBL. Klepeisz recorded 7 points. Braunschweig was defeated 84-76 in Berlin by the much higher-ranked ALBA (#4). Klepeisz's total stats this season are: 6.8ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.6apg. He plays currently for the Austrian national team.

Maximilian Hopfgartner
Maximilian Hopfgartner
#6. Forward Maximilian Hopfgartner (206-92, also represented by Dynamics Global Management, college: John Brown, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Navarra (10-8) in their game against Sammic ISB (13-5) in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Hopfgartner scored 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 33 minutes. Navarra was crushed 93-57 at home by the leading Sammic ISB. This year Hopfgartner has relatively solid stats: 13.4ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.7apg in 18 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Austrian National Team roster.

Valentine Bauer
Valentine Bauer
#7. Former U20 international point guard Valentine Bauer (183-94, currently plays in NCAA2) couldn't help the Mars Hill College (2-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Bauer's good performance the Mars Hill College was defeated 72-68 in Salisbury by the Catawba College. He scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Bauer's total stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 3.5rpg and 4.5apg. He used to play for the Austrian U20 national team three years ago.

Mladen Perak
Mladen Perak
#8. Forward Mladen Perak (203-94, currently plays in NAIA) couldn't help the St.Gregory's University (3-6) in their game against the Texas Wesleyan University (8-1) in the NAIA. Perak recorded 5 points and added 3 passes. The St.Gregory's University was crushed 100-79 in Fort Worth by the Texas Wesleyan University. Perak's total stats this season are: 2.2ppg and 2.9rpg. He used to play for the Austrian U20 national team back in 2014.

The list of other players, who all have Austrian passport but never been selected to any of Austrian national teams:

#1. Bryce Douvier (201-F-91, college: Texas A&M-CC, currently plays in Portugal) could not help one of league's weakest teams Ovarense (8-9) in their last game. Despite Douvier's very good performance Ovarense lost 76-91 on the road to the higher-ranked (#7) CAB Madeira. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 10 rebounds in 35 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Douvier's third season in pro basketball. This year Douvier has relatively solid stats: 14.5ppg, 10.4rpg and 1.4apg in 16 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Douvier has never played in Austria.

#2. Experienced Michael Kaiser (195-G/F-82, currently plays in Germany) was not able to help Herzogenaurach in their game against TSV Troester (12-5) in the German Regionalliga (fourth division). Kaiser scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. The 13th-placed Herzogenaurach (3-14) was crushed 93-63 in Breitenguessbach by the much higher-ranked (#3) TSV Troester in the South-East group. It was Herzogenaurach's ninth consecutive loss in a row. Kaiser is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his ninth year in Herzogenaurach's roster. He has reliable stats this season: 14.0ppg, 3.1rpg, 2.7apg and 1.5spg in 17 games.

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season.
