2.Bundesliga Round 15: Mustangs beat UBC St. Polten by three after a very close game - Feb 5, 2017

The most exciting game of round 15 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in St.Polten. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd placed UBC St. Polten (9-4) to first ranked Mustangs (12-2) 83-80 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UBC St. Polten. UBC St. Polten was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Mustangs maintains first place with 12-2 record. UBC St. Polten at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Mustangs are looking forward to face BBU S. (#8) in Salzburg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UBC St. Polten will play on the road against Raiders (#5) in Villach and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Rocks (10-3) against ninth ranked Flames (4-9) on Saturday night. Host Rocks were crushed by Flames in Mattersburg 77-49. Flames maintains ninth place with 4-9 record. Rocks at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Flames will play against higher ranked KOS (#7) in Klagenfurt in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rocks will play on the road against Timberwolves (#6) in Vienna and hope to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 14th consecutive match to eighth ranked BBU S. (6-8) 86-66 on Saturday evening. BBU S. maintains eighth place with 6-8 record. Loser Worthersee Piraten still closes the standings with 14 games lost. BBU S. will meet league's leader Mustangs in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Worthersee Piraten will play against Warriors (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Klagenfurt supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Lions (10-4) played at the court of 6th ranked KOS (6-7). Lions smashed KOS 75-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of KOS. Lions moved-up to third place. KOS at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Lions will have a break next round. KOS will play on the road against Flames (#9) in Wien and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 15 Timberwolves beat Warriors on the road 97-81.

Warriors - Timberwolves 81-97

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Timberwolves (7-7) beat on the road 10th ranked Warriors (2-11) 97-81. Warriors were ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 54-31 second half run of Timberwolves. Timberwolves maintains sixth place with 7-7 record. Warriors lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Timberwolves' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Rocks in Mattersburg and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Warriors will play on the road against Worthersee Piraten (#11) in Klagenfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

BBU S. - Piraten 86-66

Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 14th consecutive match to eighth ranked BBU S. (6-8) 86-66 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by BBU S.. Worthersee Piraten managed to win fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BBU S. maintains eighth place with 6-8 record. Loser Worthersee Piraten still closes the standings with 14 games lost. BBU S. will meet league's leader Mustangs in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rocks - Flames 49-77

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Rocks (10-3) against ninth ranked Flames (4-9) on Saturday night. Host Rocks were crushed by Flames in Mattersburg 77-49. The game without a history. Flames led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Flames maintains ninth place with 4-9 record. Rocks at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Flames will play against higher ranked KOS (#7) in Klagenfurt in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rocks will play on the road against Timberwolves (#6) in Vienna and hope to get back on the winning track.

Kosovo - Lions 49-75

The game in Klagenfurt supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Lions (10-4) played at the court of 6th ranked KOS (6-7). Lions smashed KOS 75-49. The BK Klosterneuburg Dukes have added some offensive firepower. The club signed Ex ABL MVP Fabricio Vay(207-F-86, agency: Interperformances) from local rival Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions. Vay was the second leading ABL scorer last season putting up 19.4 points per contest. In addition to that Vay grabbed 8.8 rpg making him the third best rebounder of the league.
