The most exciting game of round 16 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in Villach. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers UBC St. Polten (9-5) to fifth ranked Raiders (9-5) 77-74 in the game for the fourth place. UBC St. Polten cut a 14-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Raiders moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dragons. Raiders is looking forward to face higher ranked Lions (#3) in Dornbirn in the next round and it may be the game of the week. UBC St. Polten will play on the road against BBU S. in Salzburg and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 15th consecutive match to tenth ranked Warriors (3-11) 81-55. Newly promoted Warriors maintains tenth position with 3-11 record. Worthersee Piraten at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Warriors will play against league's leader Mustangs in Mistelbach in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Worthersee Piraten will play on the road against the league's second-placed Rocks (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
The game in Vienna was also quite interesting. Second ranked Rocks (11-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Timberwolves (7-8). Rocks managed to secure a 4-point victory 79-75 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Timberwolves. Rocks maintains second position with 11-3 record behind leader Mustangs. Loser Timberwolves keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Rocks will meet at home bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timberwolves will play against KOS (#8) in Klagenfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 16 KOS were beaten by Flames on the road 77-71.

Flames - Kosovo 77-71

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Flames (5-9) beat 7th ranked KOS (6-8) in Wien 77-71 on Sunday. KOS trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 24-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-77 at the end of the game. Flames have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 5-9 record. Loser KOS keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with BBU S.. Flames will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. KOS will play against Timberwolves (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
