The Regular Season in 2.Bundesliga just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games.

First defeat of Basket 2K (0-1) against Timberwolves (1-0) 109-56 was the most important game of the last round. The game without a history. Timberwolves led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Timberwolves shot 39 for 75 from the free-throw line, while Basket 2K only scored eighteen points from the stripe. Timberwolves forced 23 Basket 2K turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Timberwolves made 12 blocks. 34 personal fouls committed by Basket 2K helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 assists. The former international guard David Geisler (186-80) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Croatian center Marko Moric (205-81) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 blocks for Basket 2K. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Basket 2K will play next round against Blackbirds trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Timberwolves will try to continue on its current victory against Rocks in Mattersburg.

Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82) stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 assists for the winners and Marko Soldo chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. At the losing side the former international forward Martin Speiser (202-83) responded with 11 points and 4 assists. UBC St. Polten's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rocks will play against Timberwolves (#6) in Vienna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. UBC St. Polten will play on the road against Worthersee Piraten (#10) in Klagenfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was also a 26-point tough home loss of Raiders in a game in Villach versus undefeated Flames (#5) 92-66. Jason Chappell nailed 29 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Flames' coach Franz Zderadicka felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Timi Huber came up with 19 points for Raiders in the defeat. Flames will meet at home BBU S. (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Raiders will play against Mustangs in Mistelbach and hope to win that game.
We should not miss anothera road victory of Lions (1-0) who crushed BBU S. (0-1) by 21 points 97-76. Lions' next round opponent will be KOS in Klagenfurt and it will be for sure the game of the week. BBU S. will play on the road against Flames (#1) in Vienna and hope to win that game.
And finally the game worth to mention about is Mustangs' easy victory against Blackbirds 65-52. It was a very good performance for Michal Semerad who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. Mustangs' coach Martin Weissenboeck used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Mustangs will face Raiders (#11) in Villach in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blackbirds will play on the road against Basket 2K (#7) in Vienna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 1 winless Piraten lost to undefeated KOS on the road 77-89.

UBC - Rocks 73-80

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of UBC St. Polten (0-1) in St.Polten. Hosts were defeated by Rocks (1-0) 80-73. Rocks dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to UBC St. Polten's 28. Rocks forced 27 UBC St. Polten turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Rocks brought some defensive toughness making 12 blocks. Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82) stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 assists for the winners and guard Marko Soldo (195-95) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Four Rocks players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Martin Speiser (202-83) responded with 11 points and 4 assists and center Denis Soldo (198-85) scored 15 points. UBC St. Polten's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rocks will play against Timberwolves (#6) in Vienna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flames made 12 blocks. American Jason Chappell (208-83, college: Wisconsin) nailed 29 points and 7 assists for the winning side and point guard Tobias Stadelmann (180-88) accounted for 19 points. Five Flames players scored in double figures. Flames' coach Franz Zderadicka felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Timi Huber (179-92) came up with 19 points and Slovenian forward Ales Primc (201-79) added 17 points and 5 steals respectively for Raiders in the defeat. Flames will meet at home BBU S. (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Raiders will play against Mustangs in Mistelbach and hope to win that game.

Kosovo - Piraten 89-77

KOS used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Klagenfurt 89-77 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by KOS. Worthersee Piraten was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KOS dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Worthersee Piraten's 32. KOS forced 22 Worthersee Piraten turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when KOS made 20 blocks. Worthersee Piraten was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Slovenian point guard Ziga Erculj (182-86) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 5 assists and 6 steals. Slovenian power forward Jakob Strazar (202-94) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Five KOS players scored in double figures. KOS's coach Dragan Sliskovic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. And finally the game worth to mention about is Mustangs' easy victory against Blackbirds 65-52. The game was mostly controlled by Mustangs. Blackbirds was better in third quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Blackbirds to just 5 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Mustangs dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Blackbirds' 22. Mustangs forced 20 Blackbirds turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Mustangs made 13 blocks. Blackbirds were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Czech guard Michal Semerad (190-89) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. Guard Ronald Sprung (180-87) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Mustangs players scored in double figures.
