Azerbaijan open Day 6 with the home victory against Luxembourg. Azerbaijan needed 95:77 win to improve to 3-2 record In Group B of the EuroBasket Qualifying Round.
Azerbaijan started the game with 16-13 and added massive 30-23 in the second frame. Both teams scored 22 points each in the third quarter, while the last period was decisive in the game. The hosts added 27-19 in it for the final success. Fuad Niftaliyev (185-PG-80) scored the last five points for the winners to seal a comfortable win with them.
Jaycee Carroll (188-G-83, agency: Priority Sports) top-scored for the winners with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Orhan Haciyeva (200-PF-89) erupted with 25 points and 21 rebounds. Aleksandr Rindin (225-C-85, agency: Interperformances) followed them with 18 points and Fuad Niftaliyev netted 13. Samy Picard (196-PF-88) 15, Martin Rajniak (205-PF-78, college: CSU Bakersfield) and posted 15 points each in defeat. Tom Schumacher (189-PG-87, college: Cal.Baptist) had 12 as Luxembourg fell at 0-5 record.

D1 Round 4: Top-ranked Dervish wins another game - 6 days ago

Coincidentally all visitors won their games. D1 top team - Dervish (4-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Araz (0-4) in Nahchivan 70-44. Dervish have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Araz at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Round 1 of the Regular Season - 25 days ago

The Regular season just started in Azerbaijan. This season the league opened the doors for 7 teams.The winner of the previous season Aztop will not participate this season, so NTD and Dervish are the favorites for the top places. NTD smashed Araz 100-68 in their opener. Dervish survived a thriller against 80ies in a 79-77 win. In another game of the round ADNSU overcame NTD U16 75-54.   [read more]

BK Kremen Kremenchuk (Superleague) added to their roster 26-year old Azerbaijani power forward Amil Hamzayev (204-90). The last time (12-13) he played at Gyandzha in Azerbaijani D1 league. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Hamzayev played in the final of Azerbaijan League for two years in a row (2012 and 2013).
