Aleksandar Radulovic claims Balkan League weekly honour - Nov 1, 2012

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

Aleksandar Radulovic (207-C-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Teodo Tivat and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 28-year old center had a double-double of 18 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team beat OKK Beograd (#10, 0-3) 80-70. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Teodo Tivat won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Radulovic turned to be Teodo Tivat's top player in his first season with the team.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 32-year old point guard Christoforos Stefanidis (184-PG-80) of Kavala. Stefanidis impressed basketball fans with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as Kavala lost that game 74-79 to Kozuv (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Stefanidis is one of the most experienced players at Kavala and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Teodo Tivat's star - Savo Djikanovic (211-C-75, agency: Beo Basket). Djikanovic showcased his all-around game by recording 16 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Teodo Tivat, helping his team with a 80-70 win against OKK Beograd (#10, 0-3). Teodo Tivat has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Djikanovic also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Djikanovic as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be another team's leader.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Uros Lukovic (212-C-89) of Kumanovo - 16 points and 11 rebounds
5. Aleksandar Shterjov (208-C-86) of Kozuv - 15 points and 8 rebounds
6. Marino Sarlija (207-C/F-89) of Djuro Djakovic - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Yaniv Green (204-C-80) of Galil Gilboa - 8 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Aleksandar Kostoski (186-G-88) of Kumanovo - 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Nikola Jeftic (202-F-85) of OKK Beograd - 13 points and 11 rebounds
10. Marko Mijovic (188-PG-87) of Teodo Tivat - 16 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Balkan League round 2 best performance: Shane Gibson - 13 hours ago

American Guard Shane Gibson (188-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Beroe, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 2. The 26-year old player was the main contributor (33 points) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Kozuv (#3, 1-1) 86-80. It allowed Beroe to consolidate first place in the Balkan League. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Beroe won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the sta...   [read more]
