Nate Bowie
Veteran point guard Nate Bowie (183-G-86, college: Cent.Arkansas) takes the next step in his career journey, signing for the rest of the 2014-15 season to play for Sigal Prishtina in Kosovo. A club with a long tradition of winning, they currently sit tied at first in the standings with a 13-1 record. In addition, they compete in the BIBL Balkan league this season and have a 4-2 record. Bowie, an explosive scorer and playmaker, took some time to talk about his journey and expectations for the rest of the season with Sigal Prishtina.

Q.How did the opportunity to sign with Sigal Prishtina come about?

A. The opportunity sort of just feel in my lap so to speak. I had some offers through the break to play in other countries but I wanted to stay either in a good solid league and or
to play internationally which means Balkan League, EuroChallenge, Adriatic League or VTB for example.

Q.What have you had a chance to learn about the club, Kosovo and the Balkan League?

A.Well I'm a basketball guru anybody can tell you that. During my free time you can find me watching KBL, Germany League just what ever is on tv pertaining to basketball I watch. So I watched some games of my team already before I got here. I know that the team has a long history of winning ways. So I will just do whatever it takes for the team to win. Balkan League I know a lot about. I had many friends play for previous champs in the league. So I did my research on it

Q.What does it mean for you to now play in a European league like the BIBL Balkan League, where you will face off from clubs from Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, etc...

A.Well it basically just present another good challenge in my life. I feel if you can maintain some sort of challenge during life then everything won't be a cake walk. So for me to have the opportunity to play in BIBL is once again huge for my career. Each and every country best teams participates in the BIBL around this region so it will be exciting to play.

Q.You began this season in Greece with Aries Trikalla BC. How did playing in Greece compare to some of the other stops you have made during your career, say Ukraine or Portugal?

A.Greece is a solid league all around the board. Every league is different as far as coaching, talent and style of play. In Ukraine it was bigger guys and strong with participants from the VTB and Eurocup and Euroleague. So the level was pretty high and I liked it. Portugal was more of an up and down game and the league had many great import players predominantly African players. Greece has good legacy so we will call it. Players still come there because of the name and the basketball that Greece use to have when it was at it's biggest height in basketball years ago. Theirs still good team their participating in Euroleague and Eurocup. Sometimes the technicality and worried factor is a little bit redundant and can cause the lower level teams to fall if consistency is not installed early. I liked all those leagues.

Q.With the additions of two veterans in yourself and Desmon Farmer (196-F/G-81, college: USC), what expectations do you have for the team in the second half of the season?

A.Most important is to win in the Balkan League. I feel that with some extra additions added to the team; the team is a little bit deeper now, which we all know the deeper the team the better the team can be. I want to come home a champion again.

Q.What can the fans of Sigal Prishtina expect to see from Nate Bowie on the court?

A.Expect a player that will and has played with heart throughout his career. I will do everything in my power to help the team achieve their goals.

I would just like to also say that I appreciate this interview from one of my longtime friends at Eurobasket Surujh Roopnarine. It was an honor to do it and work with Eurobasket again. Always remember: to achieve ultimate greatness you have to be blind to your fears. Make a plan and stick to it and overtime when presented with a problem your never blink.
Looking forward this summer to expanding my Live Learn & Hoop camps to China with a good friend of mine Bolong Zheng. Working also with legendary shooting coach Mike Phelps on some collaborations. Big ups again for my sponsor and endorser Richard Rivera. Check out our apparel at 2dahole.com
