Round 3 (Second Stage): Feni Industries hand first loss to Beroe - Feb 24, 2017

There will be only one (last) round of the Second Stage in Balkan League.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bulgarian Beroe (4-1) in Stara Zagora on Thursday night. Hosts were edged by FYR Macedonian Feni Industries (2-3) 68-66. Beroe was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Feni Industries, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Serbian power forward Branislav Djekic (209-91) who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Jane Petrovski (181-87) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) answered with 21 points for Beroe. Beroe's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Feni Industries is looking forward to face Kozuv (#6) in Gevgelija in the next round. Beroe will play on the road against Sutjeska in Niksic and is hoping to win this game.
The game in Gevgelija supposed to be also worth to mention about. Montenegrin Sutjeska (2-3) played at the court of FYR Macedonian Kozuv (2-3). Kozuv smashed Sutjeska 94-65. It was a great evening for American point guard Kenyon McNeaill (185-91, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Milivoje Mijovic helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Kozuv's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Djoko Salic (213-95) with 25 points. Kozuv will play against Feni Industries (#7) in Kavadarci in the next round. Sutjeska will play at home against Beroe and hopes to get back on the winning track.

In the last game of round 3
In Group D Peja was beaten by Kumanovo on the road 80-76.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 31 points and 11 rebounds by Danilo Mijatovic of Kumanovo.

Kozuv - Sutjeska 94-65

The game in Gevgelija supposed to be also worth to mention about. Montenegrin Sutjeska (2-3) played at the court of FYR Macedonian Kozuv (2-3). Kozuv smashed Sutjeska 94-65. The game was mostly controlled by Kozuv. Sutjeska was better in fourth quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Kozuv outrebounded Sutjeska 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Kenyon McNeaill (185-91, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Serbian Milivoje Mijovic (200-91) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kozuv players scored in double figures. Kozuv's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Djoko Salic (213-95) with 25 points and Nikola Djokovic (190-89) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Kumanovo - Peja 80-76

No shocking result in a game when FYR Macedonian Kumanovo (4-1) beat at home Kosovan Peja (2-3) 80-76. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-12. But Peja won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kumanovo made 27-of-34 charity shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Peja only scored nine points from the stripe. Peja was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Serbian power forward Danilo Mijatovic (206-83) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. Slovenian center Radoslav Pekovic (215-94) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Alban Veseli (202-90) with 28 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Noah Dahlman (201-89, college: Wofford) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Peja players scored in double figures. Kumanovo will play against Karpos Sokoli (#12) in Skopje in the next round. Peja will play at home against Teodo Tivat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American Dwayne Benjamin (201-F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Blokotehna and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1. The 24-year old forward had the game-high 25 points adding nine rebounds for Blokotehna in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team SK Tirana (#8, 0-1) with 32-point margin 100-68. The Regular Season in Balkan League just started. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of FYR Macedonian Kumanovo (0-1) in Sofia on Wednesday night.
