Dragan
Labovic
Karpos Sokoli 2000 Skopje (Prva Liga) confirmed in their roster 30-year old Serbian ex-international power forward Dragan Labovic (207-115kg-87, agency: Alti Sport). He was a team leader there last season. Labovic managed to play in three leagues last year. In 18 Prva Liga games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.4ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg (in top 3). He also played 26 games in ABA League where he averaged remarkable 15.6ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.3apg and 1.7spg. And finally Labovic contributed to 9 games in Balkan League where he had 14.3ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.2apg and 1.2spg.
The most of previous (2015-16) season he spent at BC Nokia in Finnish Korisliiga. In 33 games he was second best scorer with high stats: 18.7ppg and got 6.9rpg and 1.5apg. Labovic helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very spectacular season in his career as he was selected Eurobasket.com All-Finnish Korisliiga Center of the Year and voted to 1st Team. The other team he played shortly was Istanbul BBSK in Turkish BSL. In four games he got 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.3apg. Labovic's team won Macedonian Cup.
He was a member of Serbian international program for some years. Labovic was called to Serbian Senior National Team between 2007 and 2012 and previously for U20 National Team back in 2007.
He is quite experienced player. Labovic's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in eight different countries. Labovic tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Germany (Deutsche Bank Skyliners), Greece (Aris), Lebanon (Al Riyadi), Poland (AZS Koszalin), Romania (Ploiesti), Russia (Krasnie Krilya, Enisey and BC Nizhny Novgorod), Spain (Baskonia) and Turkey (Aliaga).
On Labovic: Dragan comes from the old Serbian school of power forwards. His style is like the one of Savic (the today's manager of Barcelona) he can play in the paint as well as in the peripheral as he has quite good three pointers, he can do very good the short-tall system as well as the pick-en-roll. Has very long arms and his wing span helps him to defense his shots in and out of the paint. From the arc has around 30% which is very good having in mind that he is a strong power forward with very good moves in the basket. In the last European championship U20, Dragan was the top scorer of the European champion team of Serbia with 17ppg, 6rpg, 1apg and 1.3bpg in 30 minutes he was among the players who helped their NT to win the trophy. Dragan has all the prospects to become an NBA staff if he corrects a bit his shooting from mid range, his current stats are between 55-60%, he also have to work his personal defense as with tougher opponents will have some problems.
