Kennyetta Johnson (210-C-78, college: Ohio St.) added 14 points (6/8 FG), 10 rebounds and incredible 6 blocks, being literally the MVP today.
Kalev/Cramo made 8/20 three-pointers and let the guests made only 38% of shots. Deivydas Gailius (200-F-88), one of the most positive surprises this season so far, led Siauliai with 20 points. Siauliai had 19 offensive rebounds and made 4 less turnovers (8 vs 12) but Kalev/Cramo deserved 9 more points from free throws, another key to the 3rd victory for Kalev/Cramo this BBL season.
The first five minutes was a mini-duel between Fisher and Gailius. Baskets from Gailius took the guests ahead 0:3 and 6:7 but Fisher, having scored 7 in a row, put the hosts up 10:7. Another 4 in a row by Gailius and a pairs of free throws by Vytautas Sarakauskas (204-C-82) and Derrick Low (188-G-86, college: Washington St.) held Siauliai ahead 12:15 with 6 minutes played. Siauliai made 10 of their 21 points in 1st qrt from free throw line. Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-G-86, college: Cal.St. Fullerton) came in with 3 minutes left in 1st, made quickly two three-pointers and put the hosts ahead 24:19.
His 3rd triple, at the beginning of 2nd qrt, made it 27:21 but since then, Siauliai took the upper hand for some time - 2:10 run in a 4-minute period took them ahead 30:33. The hosts missd 4 shots and made 3 turnovers during that period and had serious problems, stopping Siauliais big men Bobby Brown and Raitis Grafs (208-C-81, college: Valparaiso) - those combined the 10 points of that run.
But the hosts survived quickly, answered with a 7:0 run and won the half 45:40. Tanel Sokk (184-G-85) and Gregor Arbet (194-F/G-83) made most of the damage before the half time break.
Kalev/Cramo kept their lead through the 3rd and 4th quarter, leading 76:62 with five minutes left to play. Everybody except the guests thought it was over. But two triples by Arvydas Siksnius (196-F-87, college: Weatherford JC) and another by Derrick Low made it 83:79 with a whole minute left. Luckily for the home team, the last attempts by guests were not good and the hosts could celebrate a well-deserved victory.
