BC Kalev/Cramo forced Barons to 22 turnovers, held Demetrius Alexander (204-F/C-75, agency: CAA Sports, college: Alabama) on embarrassing 8 points and let Barons make only 3 field goals in last 14 minutes. That was more than enough to achieve 6th consecutive victory - 73:65 (39:39) - and move to the 3rd place in Elite Division standings. Barons on the other hand has lost 4 games in a row and fallen to 9th place (based on winning percentage).
Kevin Lyde (206-C-80, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Temple) led the winners with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Nate Fox (206-F-77, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Maine) added 16 points but it was Rait Keerles (201-F-80) who deserves the hero's title, today. Keerles scored 10 of his season-high 12 points in last 11 minutes. He started and ended hosts' 11:2 run in the beginning of 4th quarter that stretched the gap to 12 with only 4 minutes left. Barons fought well and earned 10 free throws in last 3 minutes, making 9 of them but the hosts held on to the victory.
First half belonged to Barons, though. After falling behind 7:2 they made a 0:10 run and led for the whole first half (22:32 after back-to-back three-pointers by Kaspars Berzins (213-F/C-85, agency: FCM) and Kravcenko in 14th minute) until hosts' 7:0 run evened the score. Kevin Lyde scored first 8 points in 3rd quarter, incl. three dunks, to take the hosts ahead. Kaspars Berzins nailed his 3rd three-pointer and Demetrius Alexander, held on zero in first half, started to dominate and the guests went up again - 43:46 and 47:48. Then Josh Pace (198-G-83, agency: Dynasty Sports, college: Syracuse) made a crucial '24-sec' buzzer-beating three-pointer and the 'black horse' Keerles became unstoppable on his way to his first double-digit performance this season.
Armands Skele (192-G-83, agency: Agency No 10) led Barons with 15 points but his team was a mere 21/61 for field goals. Kaspars Berzins added 11, Giedrius Gustas (190-G-80, agency: Interperformances) 10 points, but the Lithuanian was only 2/13 in FG. Demetrius Alexander was held on 8 points plus 7 turnovers - his worst game this season based on effeciency rating.
