30-year old center Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-C-81) put on an amazing game in the last round for Olimpia (they play in D) and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1 (Second Stage). She had a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Tim-Scuf (#-4, 0-2) with 19-point margin 92-73. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Olimpia is placed at -6th position in Baltic League . But it's just the very beginning of the Second Stage and Olimpia won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Alyoshkina turned to be Olimpia's top player in her first season with the team. Alyoshkina has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 10.4rpg) and averages solid 1.6bpg.
Second best performed player last round was Natalia Anufryienka (174-G-85, agency: LBM Management) of Gorizont. She is a guard in her second season at Gorizont. In the last game Anufryienka recorded impressive 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Gorizont cruised to a 86-75 relatively comfortable win over Tim-Scuf (0-2). Her team has extremely good start of the Second Stage. They won their first game. However the Second Stage is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Anufryienka is well-known at Gorizont and she already established her position as one of the team's leaders.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Krystyna Matsko (182-F-91) of Tim-Scuf (#-4). Matsko scored 11 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Matsko's great performance Tim-Scuf lost 75-86 to #-7 ranked Gorizont. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Tim-Scuf can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful Second Stage losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Matsko she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Matsko has individually a great season in Baltic League. After 11 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.1rpg (8th best). She also has 2.2spg and FGP: 52.0%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Anna Pokoiova (188-F-87) of Olimpia - 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Nadzeya Nadzezhka (179-F-87) of Gorizont - 16 points and 9 rebounds 6. Volha Istseliatsova (189-F/C-88) of Minsk-2006 - 17 points and 12 rebounds 7. Viktoriya Hasper (193-C-88) of Gorizont - 14 points and 7 rebounds 8. Aija Putnina (192-F/C-88) of VICI-Aistes - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Nataliya Gavryliuk (178-F-90) of Tim-Scuf - 12 points and 10 rebounds 10. The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
