Ala Murauskaya joins TTT Riga - Mar 25, 2012

TTT Riga signed 27-year old Belarusian ex-international forward Ala Murauskaya (187-F-85). The player joined the Baltic side just before the Play-offs.
In her first game she scored 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and 4 assists helping her new team beat RTU-Merks 76-60. Murauskaya played most recently at Berezina-RCOR Borisovo. While playing 8 games for Berezina this season she averaged 11.0ppg, 7.8rpg, 1.9apg and 3.3spg. Murauskaya helped them to make it to the semifinals.
In the middle of the season Ala Murauskaya came back to Berezina where she played for the last two seasons. This season she started however with Olimpia GrGAU Grodno. After the Lithuanian Arvi Marijampole (Lithuania-LMKL), Ala Murauskaya moved to Berezina-RCOR Borisvo (Premier League, starting five) in 2009. In BWBL after 11 games her stats read 13.5ppg, 7.0rpg, 4.9apg, 2.5spg. In 2010-2011 for Berezina-RCOR Borisovo (Premier League, starting five) in BWBL she became the second top-scorer with 17.0ppg, Reb-3 (8.6rpg), Assists-3 (4.1apg), Steals-1 (3.4spg), Blocks-3 (1.4bpg), FGP: 38.8%, 3PT: 36.2%, FT: 57.3%. In 2011-2012 moved to Olimpia GrGAU Grodno (Premier League) and in BWBL had 6.8 points per game. In her top game Olimpia GrGAU beat Lithuanian Sirenos. Olimpia GrGAU crushed hosts 71:50. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sirenos. Ala Murauskaya scored 10 points and had 5 rebounds.

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. The game with biggest result difference took place in Grodno. Local Olimpia GrGAU (0-2) lost to Russia Dynamo-Farm (2-0) 62-49 on Thursday night. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 13 points. Dynamo-Farm dominated on the defensive end, holding Olimpia GrGAU to just 7 points in second quarter. Center Marina Kress (193-C-80) put on an amazing game in the last round for Gorizont, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 2. The 36-year old player had a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Tsmoki-Minsk (#4, 0-1) 56-51. There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Baltic League. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Tsmoki-Minsk (0-1) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Gorizont (1-1) 56-51.
