Baltic Women's Basketball League (BWBL) 19th championship involves nine teams from four countries: Belarus, Estonia, Ukraine and Lithuania. Season will begin on the 20th of October. Kibirkstis-Vici-Iki team will represent Lithuiania in BWBL championship. Kibirkstis-Vici-Iki will start the match from the second round, which will be held in February and March.
Six teams are going to participate in the regular season: Minsk "Minsk-2006", Borisov "Berezina-RCOR", Grodno "Victoria", Tallinn ECLEX and Tallinna Ulikool " and Kiev Tim-Scuf ".
Teams that won the first three places in the last year Championship (Kibirkstis-Vici-Iki, BC Horizont, BC Olimpia) will start the matches from the second round and will play with five best teams from the first round.
The elite division matches will involve eight teams divided into two groups. Final Four tournament will be held 19-21 April, 2013.
First two matches will be in Minsk ant Kiev. There will meet "Berezina-RCOR" and "Minsk-2006" and in the capital of Ukraine will play Tim-Scuf "and" Victoria "team. "It is very unfortunate that BWBL number of teams decreased significantly. Among the participants of the Championship teams will only be one Latvian and one Lithuanian team. This shows that our women's basketball in the region is going through a difficult time "- commented BWBL Secretary General Algimantas Ivaauskas. - The most painful is that less young Lithuanian basketball players will have the opportunity to gain experience in international competitions. Lithuanian clubs won BWBL Championship 16 times, once Latvia and Belarus.
