There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Baltic League. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Estonian BC Rakvere (0-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Lithuanian Rudupis (2-0) 88-69. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Guard Zygimantas Janavicius (192-89, agency: Interperformances) scored 19 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Gintaras Kadziulis (192-80) chipped in 17 points during the contest. point guard Reimo Tamm (185-84) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds. BC Rakvere's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rudupis maintains first position with 2-0 record. Rudupis are looking forward to face Tln Kalev in Tallinn in the next round where they are favorite. BC Rakvere will have a break next round.
Very significant was Latvian Ventspils' 44-point road victory against Lithuanian Naglis Palangos 88-44. American point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) notched 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Ervins Jonats supported him with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Even 11 points by guard Modestas Kumpys (192-91) did not help to save the game for Naglis Palangos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ventspils will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Naglis Palangos will play at home against Barsy Atyrau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best player for the winners was Janis Berzins who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Rain Raadik produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds for the guests. Valmiera keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser KK Parnu still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 7 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

In the last two games of round 2 Valga lost to Jelgava on the opponent's court 86-96. Siauliai managed to outperform Barsy Atyrau in a home game 81-69.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 16 points and 13 rebounds by Keith Chamberlain of Jelgava.


Tarvas - Rudupis 69-88

Pieno Zvaigzdes - LSU-Baltai 97-70

One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Lithuania. The game took place in Pasvalys where Pieno Zvaigzdes outleveled visiting LSU-Baltai (0-1) 97-70. The game without a history. Pieno Zvaigzdes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to LSU-Baltai's 28. It was a great shooting night for Pieno Zvaigzdes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Center Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: Edge Sports) contributed with 17 points and 7 steals for the winners. Four Pieno Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. Pieno Zvaigzdes' coach Nerijus Zabarauskas felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) replied with 24 points and 5 rebounds and forward Vidmantas Sragauskis (200-86) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for LSU-Baltai. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

A very close game took place in Valmiera between Latvian Valmiera and Estonian KK Parnu. Valmiera (1-0) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers KK Parnu (0-1). Valmiera managed to escape with a 3-point win 68-65 on Friday evening. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 31-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Valmiera made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Janis Berzins (202-93, agency: Players Group) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Kalvis Krumins (185-90) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Valmiera players scored in double figures. Center Rain Raadik (208-89) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and Lithuanian guard Augustas Peciukevicius (192-91) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests.

Jelgava used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Valga 96-86 on Friday night. TTU - Rapla 87-66

One of the most interesting games of round 2 was a derby match between two teams from Estonia. The game took place in Tallinn where TTU outleveled visiting Rapla (0-1) 87-66. TTU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. TTU outrebounded Rapla 37-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Rapla was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Arnold Arnold (208-86, college: Lewis-Clark St.) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Erik Keedus (198-90) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five TTU players scored in double figures. Power forward Raido Ringmets (206-83) responded with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Martin Paasoja (190-93) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
