After 3 rounds played we can already see who rules in the Baltic League and who belongs to weaker ones. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team and extra overtimes.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Lithuanian Sakalai (0-1) in Riga on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Latvian Barons kvartals (2-0) in overtime 86-76. Sakalai was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 6-16s. They outrebounded Sakalai 48-37 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Sakalai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Portuguese forward Maris Gulbis (202-85, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Ilmars Bergmanis (184-81) helped adding 17 points. Barons kvartals' coach Martins Gulbis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Aivaras Kiausas (199-80) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Barons kvartals keep a position of league leader, which they share with Tartu Ulikool. Sakalai at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Barons kvartals is looking forward to face league's leader Rudupis in Prienai in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sakalai will play on the road against Nevezis in Kedainiai and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points and 12 rebounds by Ike Okoye of Tln Kalev.

Naglis Palangos - Barsy Atyrau 82-75

Everything could happen in Palanga at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Lithuanian Naglis Palangos and bottom-ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau had identical 0-1 record. This time Naglis Palangos used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Atyrau 82-75 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-75. Naglis Palangos forced 21 Barsy Atyrau turnovers. Strangely Barsy Atyrau outrebounded Naglis Palangos 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Parrish Brown (185-84, college: Maryland, agency: Hightower Law Firm) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Marius Kasiulevicius (198-82, college: Trinity Valley JC) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian center Vadim Matyukevych (208-80) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Zambalist Fredrick (183-86, college: S.Carolina) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Naglis Palangos and four Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. Barsy Atyrau's coach Eduard Skripec rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naglis Palangos (1-1) left bottom position moving up to second place, which they share with Jelgava and Liepaja. Defending Kazakhstan champion Barsy Atyrau still closes the standings with two games lost. Naglis Palangos will have a break next round. Barsy Atyrau will play on the road against Rapla (#5) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Tln Kalev - Rudupis 73-82

Very predictable result in Tallinn where leader Lithuanian Rudupis (3-0) defeated Estonian Tln Kalev (0-2) 82-73 on Saturday. Tln Kalev trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 28-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 73-82 at the end of the game. Rudupis forced 19 Tln Kalev turnovers. It was a great evening for Estonian Siim-Sander Vene (203-90, agency: Alti Sport) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Arturas Milaknis (195-86) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Nigerian forward Ike Okoye (206, college: Boise St.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and American-Italian guard Marc Campbell (180-86, college: N.Carolina) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Four Rudupis and five Tln Kalev players scored in double figures. Tln Kalev's coach Kalle Klandorf rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rudupis have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 3-0 record. Loser Tln Kalev still closes the standings with two games lost. Rudupis will face league's second-placed Barons kvartals in Riga in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Estonian Tartu Ulikool and leader Latvian Liepaja had identical 1-0 record. But Liepaja was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Tartu 83-60 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 23 points. Tartu Ulikool dominated on the defensive end, holding Liepaja to just 6 points in second quarter. It was a great shooting night for Tartu Ulikool especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. It was a great evening for American point guard Justin Ingram (188-85, college: Toledo, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. Guard Silver Leppik (189-83) helped adding 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was forward Renars Magone (201-92) with 12 points and Lithuanian point guard Ernestas Ezerskis (187-87) scored 7 points and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tartu Ulikool (2-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Barons kvartals. Loser Liepaja dropped to the second place with one game lost. Tartu Ulikool will face Valga (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Liepaja will play against Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Nevezis Kedainiai (LKL) landed 24-year old American point guard Daiquan Walker (188-84kg-93, college: Cent.Florida). He started the season at Etha in Cypriot Division A. In 14 games he averaged 13.6ppg, 2.9rpg and 3.0apg this season.
