Baltic League is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 7 rounds left. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with derby games and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most interesting game of round 7 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Fifth ranked Jelgava won against visiting Liepaja (2-3) 66-60. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 23-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Jelgava made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American center Aaron Brackett (204-C-90, college: NC-Greensboro) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Latvian guard Sandis Silavs (195-88) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Toms Leiteris (213-90) produced 5 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Liepaja's coach Guntis Endzels rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jelgava moved-up to third place, which they share with 7 other teams including defeated Liepaja. Jelgava is looking forward to face league's second-placed Lietkabelis in Panevezys in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Liepaja will have a break next round.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tallinn. Leader Estonian Kalev/Cramo faced 3rd placed Latvian Valmiera. Host Kalev/Cramo (3-0) defeated guests from Valmiera (2-3) 84-76. Worth to mention a great performance of U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Tanel Sokk contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Janis Kaufmanis (186-89) answered with 25 points and 4 assists for Valmiera. Kalev/Cramo have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending Estonian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Pieno Zvaigzdes. Valmiera lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with 7 other teams. Kalev/Cramo will play against league's leader Pieno Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valmiera will have a break next round.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Riga. Leader Lithuanian Rudupis faced their biggest opponent Latvian Barons kvartals. Guests from Prienai (7-0) smashed host Barons kvartals (2-3) 117-86. It was an exceptional evening for Gintaras Kadziulis who led the winners and scored 23 points. Rudupis' coach Virginijus Seskus felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Rudupis have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Barons kvartals lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with three games lost. Rudupis will have a break next round. Barons kvartals will play on the road against Nevezis in Kedainiai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Estonian KK Parnu can celebrate finally their first win this season after two consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Lithuanian LSU-Baltai (0-4) 68-55 on Sunday. Rain Raadik fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. KK Parnu maintains fourth place with 1-2 record. It was LSU-Baltai's fourth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with four games lost. KK Parnu will face league's leader Pieno Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Other games of round 7 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless LSU-Baltai lost to undefeated Kalev/Cramo in Tallinn 74-90. Siauliai smashed Rapla at home 106-63. TTU lost to undefeated Ventspils on the opponent's court 54-67. Tarvas managed to outperform Nevezis in a home game 85-69. TTU recorded a loss to Naglis Palangos on the road 78-60. Tln Kalev was crushed by Nevezis on its own court 60-80.


Kalev/Cramo - Valmiera 84-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tallinn. Leader Estonian Kalev/Cramo faced 3rd placed Latvian Valmiera. Host Kalev/Cramo (3-0) defeated guests from Valmiera (2-3) 84-76. The hosts were ahead by 12 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 26-16 run, which allowed them to win the game. Valmiera was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Estonian KK Parnu can celebrate finally their first win this season after two consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Lithuanian LSU-Baltai (0-4) 68-55 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 43-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. KK Parnu dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to LSU-Baltai's 20. KK Parnu forced 21 LSU-Baltai turnovers and outrebounded them 36-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Center Rain Raadik (208-89) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Lithuanian guard Augustas Peciukevicius (192-91) chipped in 14 points. There was no surprise in Tallinn where bottom-ranked Lithuanian LSU-Baltai (0-4) was defeated by leader Estonian Kalev/Cramo (3-0) 90-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 50-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. LSU-Baltai was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Gary Wilkinson (205-82, college: Utah St.) fired 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Gert Dorbek (193-85) chipped in 16 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Center Tomas Urbonas (215-92) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Rapla was better in fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Rapla's 26. They outrebounded Rapla 48-18 including a 33-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Siauliai looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Rapla was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Saulius Kuzminskas (210-82, college: California) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners (perfect from the field making all six shots). Naglis Palangos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by TTU's players. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, extra overtimes and games ending by tiny margin. The biggest surprise took place in Kedainiai where host Lithuanian Nevezis (4-2) crushed league's leader Estonian Rapla (4-2) 92-72 on Wednesday evening.
