The most interesting game of round 11 was a derby match between two teams from Estonia. The game took place in Tallinn where second ranked BC Rakvere won against host Tln Kalev (1-7) 95-85. The game was mostly controlled by BC Rakvere. Tln Kalev managed to win second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for BC Rakvere especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Point guard Reimo Tamm (185-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 5 rebounds. Latvian swingman Juris Umbrasko (197-79) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-Italian guard Marc Campbell (180-86, college: N.Carolina) answered with 27 points for Tln Kalev. BC Rakvere have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-3 record having just three points less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. Tln Kalev lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Valga. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Pieno Zvaigzdes. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. LSU-Baltai lost their seventh game in a row. An interesting game for Estonian TU/Rock (8-1) which hosted in Tartu second-ranked Lithuanian Lietkabelis (6-2). First ranked TU/Rock had an easy win 99-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lietkabelis. The best player for the winners was Timo Eichfuss who scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Coach Gert Kullamae's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for TU/Rock. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Lietkabelis at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Baltic League top team - Latvian Ventspils (8-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Estonian Rapla (1-6) 76-57. Martins Meiers orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Ventspils. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Loser Rapla keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Ventspils will have a break next round. Rapla will play at home against Barsy Atyrau (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 11 Nevezis was beaten by Barons kvartals on the road 78-74. Juventus won against Liepaja on its own court 84-68.


Tln Kalev - Tarvas 85-95

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Latvian Barons kvartals (3-5) beat 4th placed Lithuanian Nevezis (3-6) in Riga 78-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 44-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Barons kvartals made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Nevezis were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Salvis Metra (195-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds. Portuguese forward Maris Gulbis (202-85, agency: Players Group) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Barons kvartals' coach Martins Gulbis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Ventspils dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Rapla's 26. They outrebounded Rapla 38-27 including 25 on the defensive glass.
