Round 12: KK Parnu is defeated by Kalev/Cramo in a derby game - Dec 8, 2012

What a coincidence that all visitors won their games.

The most interesting game of round 12 was a derby match between two teams from Estonia. Second ranked Kalev/Cramo won against host KK Parnu (2-4) 73-60. The guests trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 45-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kalev/Cramo dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to KK Parnu's 32. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and guard Tanel Sokk (182-85) who added 14 points and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Rain Raadik (208-89) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Defending Estonian champion maintains second position with 5-2 record having four points less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. KK Parnu at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Kalev/Cramo are looking forward to face Valmiera (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. KK Parnu will play against LSU-Baltai in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game took place in Palanga where second ranked Siauliai outleveled host Naglis Palangos (3-4) 86-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Naglis Palangos. The winners were led by guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St.) who scored that evening 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Chase Simon supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward James Porter (208-87, college: N.Carolina A&T) did not help to save the game for Naglis Palangos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Siauliai maintains second position with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes, which they share with Lietkabelis. Naglis Palangos at the other side keep the third place with four games lost. They share the position with Valmiera. Siauliai will play against TTU (#5) in Tallinn in the next round. Naglis Palangos will play on the road against Rapla and hope to get back on the winning track.

At the other side the best for losing team was Raido Ringmets who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds. Rapla's coach Indrek Ruut rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Kazakhstan champion maintains third position with 4-3 record having five points less than leader Pieno Zvaigzdes. Rapla lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Barsy Atyrau will meet league's leader Ventspils on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rapla will play against Naglis Palangos (#4) in Palanga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Barsy Atyrau's next round opponent will be league's leader Ventspils on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. TTU will play against the league's second-placed Siauliai (#2).



Rapla - Barsy Atyrau 88-93

The game in Rapla was also quite interesting. Third ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (4-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Estonian Rapla (1-7). Barsy Atyrau managed to secure a 5-point victory 93-88 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 28-6 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Barsy Atyrau dominated on the defensive end, holding Rapla to just 6 points in third quarter. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Barsy Atyrau forced 19 Rapla turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Zambalist Fredrick (183-86, college: S.Carolina) who scored 22 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Power forward Mikhail Evstigneev (201-84) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Raido Ringmets (206-83) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) added 12 points, 8 assists and 4 steals respectively. Five Barsy Atyrau and four Rapla players scored in double figures. Rapla's coach Indrek Ruut rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The game in Tallinn was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (4-3) played at the court of 5th ranked Estonian TTU (1-7). Barsy Atyrau managed to secure a 8-point victory 81-73. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But TTU won third quarter 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by TTU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Lithuanian forward Edgaras Zelionis (207-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Ukrainian center Vadim Matyukevych (208-80) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. Barsy Atyrau's coach Eduard Skripec allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Kiur Akenparg (190-88) replied with 26 points and forward Mooses Kaja (198-88) added 18 points in the effort for TTU. Naglis Palangos - Siauliai 47-86

One of the most interesting games of round 12 was a derby match between two teams from Lithuania. The game took place in Palanga where second ranked Siauliai outleveled host Naglis Palangos (3-4) 86-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Naglis Palangos. It looked good early as Naglis Palangos took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Siauliai had a 25-11 second period charge getting the lead and Naglis Palangos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 47-86. Siauliai dominated on the defensive end, holding Naglis Palangos to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Naglis Palangos' 30. Siauliai forced 36 Naglis Palangos turnovers. Naglis Palangos were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St.) who scored that evening 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
