The Second Stage in Baltic League just started.

Group A
Gorizont - Berezina 77-39

Gorizont led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Berezina-RCOR to just 7 points in second and third quarters. Gorizont dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Berezina-RCOR's 18. They outrebounded Berezina-RCOR 42-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Natalia Anufryienka (174-85, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Russian-Ukrainian center Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-89) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Gorizont players scored in double figures. Forward Yuliya Haponava (187-94) answered with 9 points and guard Irina Chubkavets (184-91) added 7 points in the effort for Berezina-RCOR. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Belarusian champion maintains first place in Group A with 1-0 record. Berezina-RCOR at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Gorizont will play against league's leader Eclex Tallinn at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Berezina-RCOR will play against the league's leader Eclex Tallinn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Tim-Scuf - Kibirkstis-Tiche 73-80

The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 31-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Kibirkstis-Tiche looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Mante Kvederaviciute (180-90) stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and forward Vita Kuktiene (186-80) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Kibirkstis-Tiche players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Yuliya Berezinets (182-90) responded with 20 points and 4 steals and center Miriam Uro-Nilie (190-94) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Kibirkstis-Tiche (1-0) keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with Olimpia. Defending Ukrainian champion Tim-Scuf still keeps top with one game lost. They share the position with Victoria. Kibirkstis-Tiche will meet league's second-placed Olimpia GrGAU in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tim-Scuf will play against the league's second-placed Olimpia GrGAU in Grodno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Olimpia - Victoria 106-65

The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 24-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 106-65. Olimpia GrGAU made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Olimpia GrGAU outrebounded Victoria-UOR 44-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Olimpia GrGAU especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Victoria-UOR's players. Polish-Belarusian guard Nadzeya Drozd (174-83) fired 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Maryia Papova (186-94) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Olimpia GrGAU players scored in double figures. Valiantsina Myshapud (182-94) produced 9 points and point guard Karalina Padshyvalava (165-92) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Victoria-UOR's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Olimpia GrGAU maintains first place in Group B with 1-0 record, which they share with Kibirkstis-Tiche. Victoria-UOR at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Tim-Scuf. They were replaced at the leadership position by Eclex Tallinn. Victoria-UOR will play next round against league's leader Kibirkstis-Tiche trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Olimpia GrGAU will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Kibirkstis-Tiche in Vilnius.

Center Marina Kress (193-C-80) put on an amazing game in the last round for Gorizont, receiving a Player of the Week award for round 2. The 36-year old player had a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, while her team beat Tsmoki-Minsk (#4, 0-1) 56-51. There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Baltic League. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Tsmoki-Minsk (0-1) at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Gorizont (1-1) 56-51.
