Baltic League is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 2 rounds left. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position and derby games.

Round 2 in Baltic League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Minsk where host Belarusian Gorizont (2-1) beat league's leader Latvian Eclex Tallinn (2-2) 86-76 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-76. Gorizont made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Eclex Tallinn turnovers. The best player for the winners was Russian-Ukrainian center Aleksandra Khomenchuk (202-89) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds. Darya Lipinskaya (180-93) chipped in 15 points. Estonian guard Heila Rosenfeldt (173-83) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Despite that victory Gorizont went down to second position (Group A) due to points difference. Eclex Tallinn at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Tsmoki-Minsk. Just two games before the end of Second Stage and it may be the most important game of the season next round when Eclex Tallinn faces league's leader Tsmoki-Minsk trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gorizont will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Berezina-RCOR in Borisovo.

Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Eclex Tallinn at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Just two games before the end of Second Stage and it may be the most important game of the season next round when Eclex Tallinn faces strong Gorizont trying to get back on the winning streak. Guests from Tallinn (2-2) defeated host Berezina-RCOR (0-3) 64-58. Mirjam Nikolai notched 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort. Berezina-RCOR's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Eclex Tallinn went down to third position (Group A) due to points difference. Berezina-RCOR at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Eclex Tallinn's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Gorizont in Minsk and it will be for sure the game of the week. Berezina-RCOR will play at home against the league's second-placed Gorizont in Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game was played in Grodno. Top-ranked Belarusian Olimpia GrGAU faced second-ranked Lithuanian Kibirkstis-Tiche. Host Olimpia GrGAU (3-0) defeated guests from Vilnius (2-1) 77-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kibirkstis-Tiche. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. The best player for the winners was Maryia Papova who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Olimpia GrGAU have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 3-0 record. Loser Kibirkstis-Tiche keeps the second place with one game lost. Olimpia GrGAU will face again league's second-placed Kibirkstis-Tiche in Vilnius in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kibirkstis-Tiche will play at home against Victoria-UOR in Grodno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
In Group B Kibirkstis-Tiche crushed Victoria in Vilnius 96-58. Tim-Scuf lost to undefeated Olimpia at home 71-88. Winless Victoria was destroyed by Tim-Scuf on the opponent's court 57-90.
The best stats of 2nd round was 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks by Kristina Alminaite of Kibirkstis-Tiche.

Gorizont - Tsmoki-Minsk 57-64

There was no surprise in Grodno where 4th ranked Belarusian Victoria-UOR (0-3) was crushed by second ranked Lithuanian Kibirkstis-Tiche (2-1) 96-58 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Kibirkstis-Tiche led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria-UOR's 30 and made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game, while Victoria-UOR only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Victoria-UOR 57-29 including a 41-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kibirkstis-Tiche made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Tim-Scuf led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game, while Victoria-UOR only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Victoria-UOR 49-27 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Miriam Uro-Nilie (190-94) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Olga Krayevska (183-94) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Tim-Scuf players scored in double figures. Maryia Rashchenia (185-92) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and forward Viyaleta Kiuliak (181-96) added 10 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Tim-Scuf went down to third position (Group B) due to points difference. It was Victoria-UOR's third loss in a row. They still closes the standings with three games lost.
