Kibirkstis-VICI has been crowned Baltic League champions! They overcame Gorizont in the title clash in Vilnius today. Hollie Mershon (178-G-90, college: Drexel) posted 15 points, 6 boards and 4 assists in the victory. Kibirkstis-VICI snatched a narrow 16:14 lead after the opening quarter. The Lithuanian team maintained the advantage throughout the second period. Kibirkstis-VICI accumulated a 33:26 halftime lead. Gorizont narrowed the distance in the third term. The Belarusian team got within 6 points at the final intermission. Tatyana Troina put Gorizont within three points midway through the fourth frame. But Kibirkstis-VICI quickly restored a safe distance and maintained the lead until the final buzzer. Vita Kuktiene (186-F-80) and Mante Kvederaviciute (180-G-90, agency: Interperformances) had 12 points each for Kibirkstis-VICI. Natalia Anufryienka (174-G-85) responded with 19 points for Gorizont. Tatyana Troina and Nataliya Trafimava tossed in 11 points each in the defeat.
3-4 Place
H-Sirenos - Olimpia 63-72
Olimpia stepped onto the Baltic League pedestal. The Belarusian team overcame H-Sirenos in the consolation final in Vilnius today. Maryia Filonchyk (187-PF-92) came up with 13 points to pace Olimpia. The Belarusian side grabbed an 18:13 lead after ten minutes of action. H-Sirenos narrowed the gap in the second term. The Lithuanian side got within 2 points at halftime 29:31. Olimpia boosted their lead in the third quarter. They piled up a 5-point advantage before the fourth frame. H-Sirenos however erased the deficit in the next period. Rasa Zemantauskaite drained a late three-pointer in regulation sending the game into overtime. Olimpia sparked a 10:1 run in the extra period and sealed the winning outcome. Chanita Jordan (196-C-87, agency: Gamble Sports Management, college: Bowie St.) had 12 points and 13 boards, while Ksenija Voishal and Julie Seabrook added 10 points each for Olimpia. Santa Okockyte (175-PG-92) responded with 16 points, 7 boards and 6 assists for H-Sirenos. Rasa Zemantauskaite chipped in 14 points in the loss.

Gorizont and Kibirkstis-VICI advance into Final - Apr 12, 2014

Gorizont and Kibirkstis-VICI will play for the Baltic League trophy in Vilnius tomorrow. They celebrated victories in their respective semifinal games tonight.
Gorizont outgunned H-Sirenos 68:45 in the first semifinal of the day in Vilnius. Tatyana Troina (188-F-81, college: S.Carolina) stepped up with 20 points and 6 boards to pace the winners. H-Sirenos grabbed a 21:20 lead after ten minutes. But Gorizont responded with a 20:10 run in the second frame and established a 40:31 halftime advantage. The Belarusian team limited H-Sirenos to only 2 points in the third term boosting the lead to as many as 20 points. Gorizont never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory. Natalia Anufryienka (174-G-85) nailed 17 points, issued 7 assists and grabbed 5 boards for Gorizont. Santa Okockyte (175-PG-92) and Kornelija Balciunaite (176-SF-81) responded with 12 points each for H-Sirenos.
Kibirkstis-VICI prevailed against Olimpia 82:60 for the second ticket into Final. Mante Kvederaviciute (180-G-90, agency: Interperformances) scored 19 points to pace the Lithuanian team. Olimpia snatched a 17:12 lead after ten minutes. But Kibirkstis-VICI quickly took over. They went on a 25:12 run in the second frame and ensured a 37:29 halftime advantage. Kibirkstis-VICI kept their opponents at bay throughout the second half taking the victory at the end. Mershon finished with 16 points, while Lina Pikciute (192-F-90) added 12 points and 11 boards for the winners. Nadzeya Drozd (174-G-83) responded with 17 points for Olimpia. Lyubov Alyoshkina (203-C-81) delivered 9 points in the defeat.
The Final is scheduled for Sunday in Vilnius.
