Liepaja/Triobet - P.Zvaigzdes 80-89

Pieno Zvaigzdes upset Liepaja/Triobet on the road to build a comfortable advantage prior to the return leg of the quarterfinal series. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. P.Zvaigzdes made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. P.Zvaigzdes outrebounded Liepaja/Triobet 41-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Power forward Egidijus Dimsa (204-85) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Ukrainian Andriy Agafonov (208-86, agency: AproK Sports Group) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. P.Zvaigzdes' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Arturs Ausejs (192-90) produced 25 points and 6 assists and American guard Malcolm Griffin (193-91, college: Fresno Pacific, agency: Promotex) added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side.

Tartu Ulikool - Nevezis 86-88

Nevezis nipped Tartu Ulikool in Estonia in the opener. It looked good early as Tartu Ulikool took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nevezis had a 21-18 second period charge getting the lead and Tartu Ulikool was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-88. Nevezis made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Center Karolis Petrukonis (212-87, college: Clemson) nailed 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Croatian guard Toni Prostran (182-91) accounted for 8 points and 15 assists. American guard Mandell Thomas (188-93, college: Fordham) came up with 17 points and 5 assists and point guard Tanel Sokk (187-85) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for Tartu Ulikool in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Kalev/Cramo - Barons Riga 100-81

Kalev/Cramo rallied past Barons Riga in the opening leg of the series. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-81. Kalev/Cramo made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Barons Riga only scored twelve points from the stripe. Kalev/Cramo had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. 32 personal fouls committed by Barons Riga helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Belarusian Vitali Liutych (198-92) stepped up and scored 47 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Rain Veideman (192-91) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Denis Krestinin (202-94, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Davis Geks (192-95) scored 22 points. Four Barons Riga players scored in double figures.

Vytautas - Valmiera 102-71

Vytautas made a big step towards Final Four as they crushed Valmiera in Game 1. The game without a history. Vytautas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Valmiera's 28 and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Vytautas forced 24 Valmiera turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (196-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Saulius Kulvietis (206-91) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Vytautas players scored in double figures. Arturs Berzins (204-88) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Martins Laksa (200-90) added 18 points in the effort for Valmiera. Valmiera's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.

Valmiera inks Eduards Hazners - 1 month ago
Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) signed 20-year old guard Eduards Hazners (192-97). He played last season at VEF Riga in the LBL. In 14 games he had 6.3ppg and 2.0rpg. Hazners helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Hazners also played 11 games in VTB United League where he recorded just 1.0ppg. Anrijs Miska (ex Viten Fuen.) joins Valmiera - 1 month ago
Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) agreed terms with Latvian forward Anrijs Miska (203). He played last season at Viten Getafe Fuenlabrada in Spanish EBA league. In 16 games he had just 2.3ppg and 1.5rpg. He was voted All-European Championships U18 Honorable Mention in 2017. The previous (15-16) season Miska was tested by Real Madrid (Spain) in Spanish league.
