Pieno Zvaigzdes upset Vytautas away from home in the championship series opener. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. P.Zvaigzdes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Vytautas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Egidijus Dimsa (204-85) stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and swingman Steponas Babrauskas (197-84) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. P.Zvaigzdes' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-82) responded with 30 points and forward Vytenis Lipkevicius (196-89) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Tartu Ulikool grabbed a road win over Kalev/Cramo in the consolation final series. Kalev/Cramo was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 43-28 second half run of Tartu Ulikool. They outrebounded Kalev/Cramo 47-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Janari Joesaar (198-93, college: UTRGV, agency: Three Eye Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and Lithuanian center Dominykas Milka (203-92, college: St.Rose, NY) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Tartu Ulikool players scored in double figures. Serbian-Bulgarian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: 011 Sports) came up with 17 points and 4 assists and American-Bulgarian power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Kalev/Cramo in the defeat.

The 2017/2018 Baltic Basketball League season is just about ready to tip off! Two groups of seven - 14 teams in total - will battle for the crown and represent five countries. Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) signed 20-year old guard Eduards Hazners (192-97). He played last season at VEF Riga in the LBL. In 14 games he had 6.3ppg and 2.0rpg. Hazners helped them to win the league title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Hazners also played 11 games in VTB United League where he recorded just 1.0ppg. Anrijs Miska (ex Viten Fuen.) joins Valmiera - 30 days ago
Valmiera/ORDO (LBL) agreed terms with Latvian forward Anrijs Miska (203). He played last season at Viten Getafe Fuenlabrada in Spanish EBA league. In 16 games he had just 2.3ppg and 1.5rpg. He was voted Eurobasket.com All-European Championships U18 Honorable Mention in 2017. The previous (15-16) season Miska was tested by Real Madrid (Spain) in Spanish league.
