Regular Season Round 27: Le Mans - Hyeres-Toulon 112-66
Date: April 21, 2012
There was no surprise when 16th ranked Hyeres-Toulon (2-25) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Le Mans (17-10) 112-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. Le Mans led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Le Mans outrebounded Hyeres-Toulon 42-22 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Hyeres-Toulon's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcellus Sommerville (200-82, college: Bradley) who scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) chipped in 19 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Le Mans' coach J.D. Jackson felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Mali swingman Souarata Cisse (197-86) who recorded 21 points and American power forward Rick Hughes (204-73, college: Thomas More, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Le Mans moved-up to fourth place. Hyeres-Toulon lost nineteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 25 lost games. Le Mans will face JDA Dijon (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Hyeres-Toulon will play against Strasbourg IG (#11).
