Bottom-ranked Rishon managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of five consecutive losses on Thursday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Galil Gilboa in Rishon Le-Zion 107-99. They made 31-of-38 free shots (81.6 percent) during the game. Rishon forced 22 Galil Gilboa turnovers. It was a great evening for international guard Egor Koulechov (196-94, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American guard Alex Hamilton (193-93, college: Louisiana Tech) helped adding 19 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Rishon's coach Guy Goodes used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Greg Whittington (203-93, college: Rutgers) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import forward James Kelly (201-93, college: Marshall) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Rishon (4-7) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliya. Loser Galil Gilboa keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Rishon will meet higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galil Gilboa will play against Beer Sheva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
